I've never really used AIM much other than to contact poker players on here. I always figured it would die out or something and everyone would switch to a superior chat program so I never really spent the time trying to work out how to set it up the way I want it. I guess people seem to like it tho? At least most American players do.
What I hate is that some people have the most retarded screen names and I can never remember who people are if I added them once a while back or we haven't spoken for a long time/never spoke much to begin with.
Like you'll find people who's real name is Jaime, poker name is 'Xaston' and AIM name is 'Giantgrwth'. Like WTF? Ok so if it's someone I talk to often I'll remember who they are and all that, but if this was a person I spoke to once and never spoke to again for several months - or someone I only speak to on a rare occasion - I would probably have no idea who they are.
It's pretty often that I find someone sending me an IM and starting a convo as though they know me pretty well and I have no idea who they are and either need to IM someone else, check my chat logs, or just keep the conversation going until I figure it out.
What I'd like to be able to do is change the way people's names appear to me in my buddy list, so it could look something like:
Xaston
Shamdonk
Twelver
Hard2tel
Tyrannic
rather than:
Giangtgrwth
nationality + noun
X3487
hard2telsomething or other <-- ok this one's easy
somerandomword + somerandomnumber
I see that there's the option to add a 'nickname' to people but that doesn't show up in my buddy list, it's still their screen name. It seems pretty retarded not to have an option to do this and there very well may be one that I just can't find. Either way, plz to be helping me out on how to do this.
If it just can't be done, well, I might just have to pay more attention and improve my memory. But who wants to do that?
Poker is silly.
It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.
Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.
