Hey,
So you're reading this on the new BTP server in Texas (as opposed to Germany).
It looks a bit slower to me, but then again it's moved thousands of miles away. I would be interested to hear how our cousins across the pond find the new server's speed. I am doing some background processing anyhow, so we'll have to wait and see.
If you notice anything odd or wrong about the migrated forum, please bring it to my attention by PM or email to doddjames@yahoo.co.uk! I have done all I can to make the transition smooth, but I may have overlooked something.
If you are accessing this site through our temporary URL
www.aggressivepokerplayer.com then some of the links that point to
www.livepokerforum.com are going to be problematic until that domain is migrated across too (up to 72hrs from 8.30am GMT Wednesday 12 October, or 6.30am CST).
The email addresses
tetsuo@livepokerforum.com and
iceman5@livepokerforum.com are also out-of-order until our URL points to the correct place and I then re-setup those addresses.
I introduced some new features on the new board.
1) I added a modification that should speed up page-generation times (using caching).
2) I added a modification that allows me to rebuild the search indexes on posts easily should I need to (like now, lol).
3) I introduced a selection of 50 generic 'stock' avatars, which new or existing users can choose from if they so wish by going to their profiles and opting to view the avatar gallery named '50 generic poker images'.
4) I introduced a modification to allow each user to select whether they want other people's avatars and/or signatures turned off when they are viewing the forum. This is so BTP can be made more 'worksafe' (some pictures we have/had as avatars may not be suitable for the workplace).
5) I introduced a 'Report Post' feature, which is the red exclamation mark at the top right of every post. This submits your complaint into a pool that the moderators can access and act upon. DO NOT SPAM THIS FEATURE UPON PAIN OF DEATH!!!
I will talk with the moderators about this feature in due course.
Thanks for listening.
James
