Finally a heater !

I've been waiting for this to happen and yesterday it did. Got dealt a lot of big PP's which took down some nice pots and finally the following hand.

I'm dealt AA on the button, UTG raises to $4, folded to me who reraise to $12, UTG thinks and calls. He has 115$ and I cover.

Flop:
48J (rainbow), pot around $25

he checks, I bet $20, he thinks long and calls.

Turn is a blank, pot $65

He insta-leads for $45, JJ beats me, 44/88 is unlikely, I beat KK/QQ and TP (if he's a donk). It certainly looks like JJ but I can't give him the credit so I push, he calls with AJo :o. .

No kidding, he calls a $12 reraise PF with AJo OOP. Sweet.

Ship a 230$ pot.

Not a single bad beat, one big laydown when a flush hit, that's it.

+180$ in 1 hour. Excellent

I only update my journal after running good (who wants to read a losers journal anyhow right ?), so here we go:

August started mediocre, Didn't play much and when I did I didn't hit my hands and for 3 weeks I was completely breakeven at 100 NL. I seriously didn't hit a set in a raised pot for all that time.

Sunday evening it turned around, it started raining sets, it felt like every 2nd PP hit a set on the flop. I pushed with a lot of them and people still kept calling me with overpair / tp / etc.

Sunday session: +$180 (4 tabling 100 NL fullring, 1 hour)

My streak continued on Monday as I played some 6 max, people kept calling me even more often and most of my hands held up, My 22 hit a set in a raised PF and guy with AA stacked off to my push all in on a ragged flop.

Monday session +180 (4 tabling 100 NL fullring/6 MAX 1 1/2 hour)

I played some 6 max this morning LAG style and pushed a guy around until he started calling me down, by then I started hitting my hands as well and each time he called me down I had the goods :)

Tuesday morning session +70 (2 tabling 6 MAX 1/2 hour)

Short sessions but I find that my motivation to continue playing drains down when I'm up around $150 for a session, I feel I loose focus and become a bit money blind, so I like to stop right there and review some hands before I call it a day.

I also think I'm in for some bad karma as it feels my luck has pushed the limits, also I haven't had 1 hand the last couple of days where a set miner has hit against me. So I'm due for sure.

I'm going to review my hands the last few days to make sure my play has not gone out of line (bullet proof syndrome).

Now I'm only waiting for the big laydowns to come knocking on my door.

I love the players at $100 NL 6 MAX on PP.

There are two types of players in 6 MAX PP.
- The non believers who will call down everything
- The tight aggressives who you can push out of pots but beware once they call you.

The non believers almost never believe you when you reraise them and then they call you down with TPNK. So far it's been easy, I get paid of alot more on my hands than on full ring.

The tight aggressives you just stay away from (at least when they turn bet). Except the super aggro tight aggressives who you must identify and call down with TPNK

Just keep an eye on the better (tighter) players around the table, you can easily push them off by reraising them on the flop (with draws etc), but if they call you its shutdown time.

This strategy has worked great for me and I'm up about another $500 in only about 8 hours of play last week.

I have a feeling variance probably also affects this upwards

No handhistory today.

Approaching 200 NL almost too fast, I think I'll stay around on 100 for quite a while, its profitable enough.

6 MAX

Played 20 minutes this morning, lost a stack in this hand:

forum/viewtopic.php?t=17994

I guess I was hoping for him to have something like QQ/KK and lay it down as I was repping the A. Anyways he had AK, I think if he would just call PF I could more easy put him on the A.

I think I'm going to stick to FR for a while until I'm more confident in my play and stop making moves like this.

Stacked of yesterday with my QQ as someone hit their str8 on the turn, flop was like
J25 , turn 6, I bet turn $30, he minraises, I donk push AI and lose a stack.

+200$ on PP NL 100$ Fullring in 1 hour.

New personal record. Stacked a guy with KK (who had QQ) on a ragged flop. I bet flop, he raise, I push AI.

The "Overpush" works great on PP they almost never give you credit for you hand

Stacked another guy who had AJ with QQ on a J86 flop. same story, he lead into me and I push, he calls and stack off.

Played some more 6 Max the next day and up another $100 in 1/2 hour.

So my BR is back on its own tiny "all-time-high" and I'm smiling all day long.

I got minraised A LOT on my other overpairs, I won a few small pots with AA's but had to lay down my overpairs several times to setminers (hopefully). At least I never stacked off with my overpairs and cut the cost to around 25 BB.

Well I knew it was coming and the last sessions have not been pleasant to me.

This morning was miserable, 1 hour 5 tabling, 250 crap hands and one AA which gave me $30. One of the tables I played 70 hands and not hitting ONE flop, nothing, only win was when it was folded to me in BB....

I'm not going to bitch about all the beats but I was getting beats in all possible ways by donks slowplaying their monsters. I think I only hit one flush in 1 hour and was brutally beaten by a SF. Thankgod he was shortstacked.

I made 1 big mistake though:

I check BB with 23 (only UTG limped)

Flop: 23Q

UTG bets $5, I call. I know I should have raised butall beats I had been dealt slowed me down. Of course 22,33 is unlikely, QQ possible but not likely.

Turn: 7 (rainbow)

I check / call $10

River 5:

Check / check.

He has AA  and MHIG, pot $40. If I only had popped that flop I should have stacked him. Very few hands are ahead of me on that flop and he is not likely to have any of them.

Lost almost 4 buyins and I should probably take a break from Poker cause I'm not in balance at the tables anymore.

Grinding, grinding & grinding.

Slowlly I've been playing my way back up on the 100 NL and by friday I was back up on $3430, I managed to stay away from the bad beats and just had a number of solid small winning sessions for around 8PTBB.

It took me another 3 hours to clear the $100 PP reload bonus for september, I was up $60 for the session when the following hand came along:

I'm in BB with 99

MP ($100 and I cover) raise PF to $5, I'm the only caller:

Flop:

9AQ (rainbow), pot $10

Bingo ! I can hear my heart beating as I weak lead for $5 hoping for a raise, he miinraises to $10. hmm, AA/QQ not unlikely but AK/AQ might do the same, I just call

turn is a brick., pot $30.

I check to him because I'm sure he's going to bet, he makes it $20, I push.

Of course he calls with AA, and river is Q.

Lost 1 stack and 2 hours of grinding down the drain, just like that.

At least I got the PP bonus so now:

Stats for septemeber:

Hands played: 5K
PTBB: 8
Winnings: around 1K$ + PP bonus and RB.

Started playing some $200NL this weekend, 4 tabled (played 2x100 and 2x200 FR at PP) a few sessions.

Pretty card dead and nothing really exciting.

+180$ in 1 hour, lost it all next hour, (my KK vs AA all in PF cost me a stack, flush over flush was also expensive)

My 200$ tables were mostly really dry, VPIP $18, tight PF, very few showdowns and just boring. All my PP's missed their sets of course.

I had 1 fantastic $200 NL hand though:

First hand, I post in MP, get dealt

Q9o

Flop: (Pot $6)
Q94 (rainbow)

BB checks to me, I bet $5, BB raises $18, I call

Turn is a blank. (Pot $45)

BB leads $30, I flat call

River is 9: (Pot $105)

BB checks, he has ($97) left, I bet $97, he thinks and thinks, with 1 sec left he callse with QJo.

Ship my biggest pot to date ($290). Thankyou sir !

Can't believe how you can misplay top pair that way, flop check raise is bad, leading the turn is even worse, and that put him to a really hard river decision with an escalated pot.

Played some more NL100 FR but tables were so tight and boring (VPIP %20), didn't hit much and my PF raises almost got no callers at all.

Wow has party poker changed...

I played some european evening time in the weekend, it was actually quite loose games on the 100's, vpip around %30 even though its October bonus period, not bad.

Made some money 5 tabling and clearing october bonus.

Think it's worth continuing playing Party european prime time and I'll sign up for either FTP or PokerStars to play US prime time.

No really spectacular hands, I hit a lot of sets and took some stacks though I made some bad plays and lost parts of it.

For the first time in my life I took a shot at 1/2 6 max, I don't have the bankroll for it yet, but I'm right on the edge. Party 100 FR was soo tight and boring yesterday evening I decided to fire up a 1/2 6 max table and test my waters.

The table was very aggressive and a few players had pfr's of 40%. A lot of positional raises and I didn't enter any pots the first 10 hands.

After 10 hands the following happens:

forum/viewtopic.php?t=19044

After the adrenalin shock I play another few rounds, take down another small pot where I reraise a big draw on flop, decide that's enough and sit out and calm down.

Think I need to get more comfortable to the pot sizes but I guess it comes, I think I'm going to play some more $100 6 max and build my roll a bit more before continuing the 200's, still don't know if I'm good enough but mabye I give the 1/2 players too much credit.

Well party $100 FR is certainly unplayable, it was just ridiculous the last time I saw it, 10 rocks waiting for monsters preflop, all probably multitablers (you know they check the fold checkbox before action is handed to them).

So a couple of times I get AA/KK, each time I make the standard raise I just get the blinds. I'm not going to lag it up on FR tables so I'm out.

Played some 6 max instead which unfortunately was just as tight, 6 max tables with vpip's around %20

So I sat down on a few $100 6 max tables and raised basically anything in LP and all PP's in all positions and it worked out quite well. I took down a lot of small pots with CB's and even won a few nice showdowns when I hit a str8 and another where I induced a busted draw bluff from an aggro player.

I need to find new looser $100 and $200 tables Europe prime time (evenings), don't know where though...Any recommendations ?

There's a mixture of decent players, weak tighties, floaters, loose fish and LAGs at the 6max 100NL Crypto tables.

Not a bad weekend...

$100 6 MAX

Did some 4 tabling and cleaned out a deepstack (200BB) with flush over flush, I had A4h, he had 67h. Flop was all hearts: He check called my pot bet from button on flop and then minraised me on brick turn, I push all in and he called.

Ship a $400 pot, thankyouverymuch

After that I decided to go for my shot at the $1/2 level seriously 'cause I think I have the roll for it.

$200 FR (4 tables)

Lost a full stack with KK vs AA, all in preflop, he 3 bet to $50, I push, that's the 3'd KK vs AA I had in a week ! Supposed to be 1/24 odds, I haven't even had 24 KK's this month. I can't remember last time I had AA vs KK myself.

Thankfully stacked another guy a bit later, I had 33 in MP, flop comes A23, BB checkraises me to $20, I push all in, he calls with A2, I drag the $400 pot.

There seem to be a bit more raising preflop going on at the 200 tables I've been at, not much point in limping SC's in EP, I got raised out each time. Didn't hit anymore sets either.

I had one trouble hand where I ended up folding a baby flush to a completed flush on the turn and my bet was raised by LP, I'll post that hand on the forum to see what you guys think.

I ended up taking down some nice pots, nothing really exciting after that, just the regular things.

I'm really stoked that I'm already playing at the $200's and that it has been working out so far. My initial goal for the year was so become a winning player at the $100 level and once I reached around $3000 my plan was to start cashing out each months winnings and save/spend it.

I was just afraid that the opponents at the $200 level would be too hard to beat and that I would be more profitable (comfortable) with playing the $100's. But now I'm getting greedy and some of the 200$ tables are just too juicy not to play. They seem to be really mixed, yesterday at PP I actually found some loose FR tables where sometimes 4-5 ppl would see the flops and some calling stations too, so I guess they are fully beatable.

I still have some issues with the money value at this level, suddenly you're blinding away quite quickly when 4 tabling $200. I think I'll get used to it, I'm not playing scared money, I have a BR which by now can take a few hits and I intend to use it to support my very best play.

I don't know what my new goal is, I'll just try to build my BR to be at least 30 buyins at the $200 level before cashing out anything. I don't need the money I have decent salary to live of.

So is this at Party still? Aren't most of the 6max tables there Monster, or have they got rid of that now?
