I'm on a 7 session winning streak though most have been small wins. Anyway, things seem to be good. I've upped my aggression quite a bit but I think I still need to do it more. I've had some interesting hands my last two sessions.

Something I'd never try online:

limp in EMP with [Tc] after some limpers. Fairly tight guy makes it $30. Button calls as do I.

Flop $100~

I check the openender. PFR bets $40. Button calls. yay! I call.

Turn $220 ~

Check to PFR who bets $100. Button calls. I call.

River $520

I think about it for a while and decide they're both pretty weak. I bet $300. I withstand the pressure and both fold after a long, long time each. PFR folded AK, Button folded A8 (?!?!?!?!)

I think my play on this hand kinda sucks. My move should have been on the turn... not the river. What am I repping with my river bet? Like I said I need to keep working on my aggression. Needs some fine tuning.

A challenging hand of poker:

Straddled pot.

Tight player who is probably a pro or at least a good amateur makes it $40. I call with [Td]

He c-bets $60. I raise to $200. He says, "I guess I have to reraise" and makes it $250 on top. Normally I would fold this but I didn't feel he was all that strong. Even if had the overpair he's repping, he has to be very worried if I call. It's exactly how I'd play a set. I started with around $1200, he covers. I call.

TURN $900

I'm open-ended. He checks and says, " I'll give you some rope." I think for a while. I may have the best hand and he is def capable of laying down an overpair. I bet $300 with $400 left behind.

I made it small on purpose. I know he's played a lot of poker and that bet is repping uber strength. It says my hand is so strong, I don't want you to fold so I'll bet small. He sat there asking me questions forever. I was about to call the clock on him. It had to be at least 5 minutes. He starts asking himself how the hell he got into such a situation with his mediocre holding in the first place. He keeps reiterating about my "big bluffs" (the last hand I ended up showing) and finally pushes in with AJ. Good read.

I called quickly getting sufficient odds. The beautiful 7 hit the river. I have no doubt if I hadn't shown that earlier bluff he would have folded. Anyway, I like my play on the hand.

Folding KK preflop?!?!

UTG who's been pretty quiet makes it $20. couple of callers. Good, aggressive player makes it $110. I look down in the BB and spot two red kings. I have $600. As I'm thinking about what to do, UTG puts in $350?!?!. He couldn't see me or my cards as the dealer obstructed his view. Now I had even more to think about.

If I push he'll only call with AA or KK. If I call I'm out of position the rest of the hand, and still don't know what to do if he pushes. I could make a small raise but it all seems crazy. I just lay it down. He makes the raise and the good player folds. UTG says he had AA. I believe him too because he was so adamant about it, and then managed to tilt of like 2k after the fact. Finally I folded KK to AA preflop!

I push my last $600. I couldn't figure out what else to do. Betting $300 seemed kind of stupid, as did checking. Suggestions? Anyway PFR folded to my allin and I won the pot when the button mucked.

Very good player raises in MP to $20. I call in LP with [Jc]. Sometimes I repop but not this time.

He checks. Because of our history, I bet $100. I want him to think I'm on a bluff so I'm overbetting with my good hand. Against a normal player I would never bet so much here.

He checks. Not really a good card for me. I don't see him calling much and I don't feel like reopening the betting. I check behind.

He shows quad 8s!!!!

This is where 4th level thinking would have paid him off huge. He said he thought I was full of shit because of my turn bet. Therefore he opted not to raise. If he had figured out what I was doing, I would have been in a tough spot indeed. Since I was representing a bluff I would have been calling a raise fairly liberally. Luckily for me, I don't think he gave me credit for being a higher thinking player.

I never fold AK to you in the first hand...I only have to be right just over 1 in 4.

#1) I would never fold AK there either. If theo other guy really folded A8, hes a total moron.

#2) I would say the villian played his hand perfectly. I dont know why you called the flop reraise. Thats a $2400 river card. I really dont like your play here this deep.
Hes not folding an overpair on the turn and youre pretty obviously not ahead, so just take the free card.

Back to the hand where you had JJ on the AJxA board. You were defending your turn call. Thats totally fine, but ONLY if youre never folding the river no matter what hits. You cant fold after a broadway card hits. Hes going to make a big bet with any ace (or with air) and you have no idea what his kicker is so you cant fold. What I said was that if youre EVER going to fold the river, you should raise the turn to make it impossible. When youre sitting there contemplating your turn action, you should conciously tell yourself "OK, self, Im going to just call here so he wont fold an ace andmay bluff the river again if he has nothing, but Im closing my eyes and getting all in on the river no matter what it is". And then if its a K, you still have to call / shove. Never fold.
