Just had a very pleasant last set there...

22
22
22
22 (1st) $90
33 (2nd) $81
22 (2nd) $54
22 (2nd) $54

I got doubled up early on in a few of them by some mega-donks with big hands. Those donks make me want to keep coming back to SNGs. Like I had AA and raise 5x after two limpers. I get two callers. Flop comes [Qd] [Jd] [5h] and I bet 3/4 pot. Early limper calls. Turn is [8c] and I put him all-in (he had a little less chips than the pot size by then). He calls with AJ, I laugh, and double up. So he made a big pre-flop error with calling the raise OOP, then he calls the flop with middle-pair after I lead out on a coordinated flop into two players, and then he calls my all-in on the turn after I've shown strength on three streets. BRILLIANT!!

One time I actually played post-flop poker with 33. His bets were telling me "overcards", I felt confident in my read, so I check-raised all-in. I think it was Kenny who told me one of the most important traits for NL cash is having confidence in your reads.

The hand played out like this:

Blinds 25/50, everyone around average stacked, 8-handed.
I open-limp in MP with 33, BTN raises 5x BB. Folds back to me and I decide to call. At the $22 SNGs on FullTilt I've noticed bigger raises pre-flops are much more likely to be big cards than big pairs. Flop comes 652 rainbow, I'm not confident he has overcards yet, so I check to see what he tells me. He bets exactly full pot fairly quickly. Now I think it's far more likely he has overcards than an overpair. Most players would not full pot an overpair on a flop like that. And my gut told me I was ahead. Usually I would just fold here to conserve chips, but I was very confident this time. I was surprised he called my c/r all-in with just AT-high (he wasn't pot-committed), but I was happy when he turned it over.

SNGs: 164
Net: +368
ROI: 13%
ITM: 39%

Funniest hand of the day:

UTG has been playing like a fish the whole SNG and is short-stacked with 625 chips left.

Blinds 25/50
UTG limps, folds to CO who limps, BTN limps, I have QQ in the SB and make it 300. UTG quickly shoves all-in. I call, he turns over 76s. I type "LOL" in chat and scoop the pot. He had no fold equity and is likely behind, yet shoves all-in.

On an unrelated note... my Jets are playing "dah Bears" in a couple hours. I hope we pull out another upset like against the Patriots last week. Knowing how much our defense sucks, this will not be easy. We need to keep the pressure on Grossman and produce turnovers.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

I've shown and discussed the UCLA student video with many of my friends and housemates. Earlier tonight on Tom's radio show we played a 30 second clip from it and discussed it on air. I want people to actually think about the scenario and not "he got electrocuted, he cannot stand up", "he deserved it", "that's what you get for not obeying the rules" or "boo hoo all he needs is a hug from mommy and he'll feel better".

My opinion? The student was an annoyance and should have been escorted out as quickly as possible. Just carry the annoying student out. It's not like it's impossible for police to carry away a subject going limp. Tasing him in front of many students in a library and telling him to "stand up or be tased again" was a terrible reaction to the situation.

Imagine you're in your college's library studying or researching. Some student is being extremely loud, won't show ID, and won't leave the library. He never shuts up until the police come. So the police come and carry him off. You celebrate briefly and are thankful for the police promptly dealing with the problem without a mess. Then you resume your studying peacefully.

How easy do you think it'd be to resume studying after you watch a student get tased? The witnesses reported it was the most "vile and disgusting" thing they've seen.

If this is typical officer training when someone is not being compliant but no threat to others, then they should be pressured to change their training.

I played a few more sets of SNGs the past couple days:

SNGs: 177
Net: +409
ROI: 13% (okay)
ITM: 39% (LAAAMEEE)

Lately I've been doing 5 tables of SNGs (mix of 22s/33s) and 2 tables of 25NL FR. Today's NL cash was especially juicy! I stacked three players! Such horrible players at this level. If I weren't so tight on cash I'd move up to NL50 easily.

To help me stop sweating the short-term so much, I've been easing myself into not calculating my wins/losses at the end of each session. I write down the necessary information so I can calculate it later. When do I calculate it? It's quite arbitrary - whenever there isn't much room left on my notepad file (without scrolling down).

WAHHH I keep reading about others $2k+ bankrolls and I've got sh*tttt.

I recently learned my health insurance will NOT reimburse me for my meetings with my psychiatrist, despite him telling me otherwise. I haven't been able to reach him for clarification on this. If everything is true and I'm not reimbursed, I will no longer be seeing this guy. He charges a ridiculous amount per session, way more than I'm used to paying. I figured with co-pay it'd bring it down dramatically. But nope... looks I'm getting screwed there. Pissed away a good $600.
