Arrgh!!

Woke up at 2:30 or so and couldn't sleep so fired up some tables and I must have had a bulleyes painted on me at Stars because I was getting hammered right and left in the 5-10 game for about 400 before mounting a nice hat trick to recover a large slice of it. Still down a little but manageable.

Forgot about having to go to the dentist today so after not getting any real sleep last night had to get up early to go to the appointment. I hadn't been in a while and just wanted to get my teeth cleaned but the doc said some of my old work needed repairing so I let her do it, she was pretty hot so I didnt argue much but unfortunately I had also decided to go to the opthamology doc while I was waiting (a whole shitload of different docs in the office) to see about having the surgery to correct my vision so I don't need glasses. Well she told me that I was at the age were my eyes would start changing again and that if I had the surgery then my vision would be good for long distance but I would need glases for reading, just the opposite of what I am now. Well that doesn't help much as the reason I wanted the operation is to get rid of having to wear glasses in the first place. But during the exam she put some shit in my eyes to dilate them so it distorted my vision pretty good so I could only partially focus on the nice breast hovering over me while the drill was doing it's work and that damn light VERY first hand greeted me with this tasty morsel.

Just placed a 4 unit bet on the over (35.5) of the Dophin/Brown game. This is a very solid bet in my opinion if you get it while the line is still this low.

Indiana +13 (BU:1)
Penn State -7 (BU:1)

Nice middling prospect. Got the Jets at +14 at Bodog and the Broncos at -12.5 at Olympic.

A decent start to the day. Need another 8 VIP points to clear the 200 euro reload at Martins.

Went back and finished up the few hands I needed for the reload at Martins and it was immediately credited to my account.

Another short session with plenty of beats thrown in but somehow managed to turn a small profit. Worse hand was a 5 way raised pot and I had AK, flop AAJ, other guy with A5 and rivers a damn 5.

Good news on the Martins bonus as it seems the reload and deposit clear simultaneously so only 3K raked hands for the full 800 euro bonus(ca. 940 US), pretty damn nice.

Put in one more short late night session at Martin's.

Just a plethora of sickening suckouts this morning but I won't bore anyone with the details.

A decent NBA selection tonight in the Lakers/Knicks games. The over/under is 180. Both teams are struggling to score points as Kobe Bryant has a hurt hand and the Knicks are having a hard time reaching 80 with the exception of one game against a struggling Kings team when they shot exceptionally well. The Knicks are also on the final game of a tough six game western road trip and are likely to be feeling it. Perhaps if the game goes into double overtime they may reach 180  (2BU)
The game looking a litle shaky for the under but the Knicks have come out hiting 57% of their shots in the first half thus far which is a pretty good clip for anyone and a record pace for this team. Still only 6 points over the 90 for half the cover, just hope the Knicks go on one of their famous second half cold streaks.

Well the true Knicks showed up in the 4th quarter and hit about 6 of 25 shots when I clicked it off because they went over the total with about 1 minute left. Just no defense by either team in the first three quarters I suppose and they still barely managed to cover the line. Can't win them all I guess.

Overall: 6 wins, 4 losses
Overall BU w/l: +6/-5.5 = +0.5 Sports betting is tough work

Another short hour session and hounded by the three outers again although I did manage a small victory. Got the second half of that dentist appointment today so may just rest a little before going to it.

Poker Hands

Postby piersmajestyk » Wed Nov 16, 2005 1:39 pm

Speaking of the dentist here are some hands were I think I made maximum extractions today. I think they are good examples to study in the least on how to handle certain situations like having the nuts and getting bet and raised into and how to handle an overaggressive player on a small blind defense, etc.

Texas Hold'em $5-$10 (real money), hand #1,479,823,307
Table Izmir, 16 Nov 2005 1:06 PM ET

Seat 1: DagnyTag [ AC,JD ]
Seat 2: Elvis lives
Seat 3: Sneaky_Snake
Seat 4: Donhaze
Seat 5: Stilish
Seat 6: niels niels
Seat 7: joeyboyuk
Seat 8: squabbah411
Seat 9: zarbel
Seat 10: supercute11
ANTES/BLINDS
DagnyTag posts blind ($2.50), Elvis lives posts blind ($5).

PRE-FLOP
Sneaky_Snake folds, Donhaze folds, Stilish folds, niels niels folds, joeyboyuk folds, squabbah411 folds, zarbel folds, supercute11 folds, DagnyTag calls $2.50, Elvis lives checks.

I just call here with the intent to reraise if Elvis decieds to get out of line preflop.

FLOP [board cards 9S,7H,3C ]
DagnyTag bets $5, Elvis lives bets $10, DagnyTag calls $5.

This guy has a flop and turn aggression factor of 4.0. If he had a real powerhouse here he would most likely wait to raise me on the turn. He also can't discount that I have some of this flop since I only limped in from the small blind and led out. I think he is trying to make a play on me here with his raise.

TURN [board cards 9S,7H,3C,10C ] Well I now have a gut shot and two overcards and I don't think Elvis has much of anything but he will follow his flop bet up here without a doubt so I let him bet it again and then raise him with my Ace/Jack high knowing that without a pretty serious hand, which given his flop raise I don't believe he has he will probably lay his bluff attempt down or even a small pair.

DagnyTag checks, Elvis lives bets $10, DagnyTag bets $20, Elvis lives folds.

Elvis has left the building
SHOWDOWN
DagnyTag wins $58.

SUMMARY
Dealer: supercute11
Pot: $60 | Rake: $2
DagnyTag bets $35, collects $58, net $23
Elvis lives loses $25

This was a real gem of a steal after the villain checks the flop and then bets at it when a 3 hits the turn. When you are heads up and it gets checked to you bet the flop and try to take it down there as most of time your opponent doesn't have anything and will be hard pressed to call you with a small pot most of the time. When she checks the flop she has just given me the license to steal from her with a crafty CR turn on a nothing turn card which happened to give me a double gut shot if I did happen to get called which wasn't likely.

PokerStars 5/10 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [5s], [4c].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 6 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: (2.40 SB) [Ac], [7c], [Ts] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 checks.

Turn: (1.20 BB) [3d] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 folds.

Final Pot: 4.20 BB

Results in white below:
No showdown. Hero wins 4.20 BB.

Another hand that given the betters action he probably doesn't have shit. If he had an Ace he would have likely raised me up preflop and if he had a 10 I don't think he would have led into me on the flop but would have tried to sucker me in for some extra bets on the turn and river. I called the flop figuring my K high was likely good and would evaluate how to proceed on the turn depending on what hit.

*** FLOP *** [Ad Ts Th]

PMajestyk calls $5

*** TURN *** [Ad Ts Th] [8d] Ok I hit my pair which given his preflop and flop action I am almost 100% sure I am ahead here but I don't want to raise him as he will very likely fold with this board and my read on him having none of it. I want him to have an opportunity to fire again on the river and then raise him which he might even pay off out of curiosity with a small pair or even a high card.

jtbigtime bets $10
PMajestyk calls $10

*** RIVER *** [Ad Ts Th 8d] [3d]
jtbigtime bets $10 (an extra bet extracted that playing it differently on the turn I likely would not have got.)
PMajestyk raises to $20
jtbigtime has 15 seconds left to act
jtbigtime folds
Uncalled bet of $10 returned to PMajestyk
PMajestyk mucks
PMajestyk wins the pot ($57)

I could probably get locked up for entrapment here. I check my A shitty kicker on the flop intending on going for a check raise because this particular player would in all likelihood raised it up from the CO with an ace holding but instead had limped in.

PokerStars 5/10 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [Ad], [8d].
6 folds, CO calls, 2 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: (2.40 SB) [Ah], [3s], [7c] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.

Turn: (1.20 BB) [Js] (2 players) I figured I would check a second time as it would just be too tempting to not bet here after I checked because I certainly would not check an A twice in a row here

Hero checks, CO bets, Hero raises, CO calls.

The old turn CR worked like a charm. The fact that I got called gave me a very good indication that the J had hit them or perhaps they had picked up a spade draw.

River: (5.20 BB) [5s] (2 players) Not the best card in the deck for me but I lead out again as I think the J holding is much more likely here than the spades.

Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls.
Damn got raised which I wasn't expecting to happen but I called her down and got to see what I thought would be her holding. She still figured that I couldn't have that ace I guess and since the board paired it gave her an Ace kicker with her Jack in the case I had a KJ so she felt confident in at least a split.

Again by analyzing what my opponent could not or very likely did not hold I was able to play the hand in a way to maximize my earnings the majority of the time, the fact that she hit her pair may have made leading out on the turn the best play here but if she held nothing she would not call which would be most of the time so in the long run the CR I believe is the best play here.

Final Pot: 9.20 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Ad 8d (one pair, aces).
CO has Jd Qs (one pair, jacks).
Outcome: Hero wins 9.20 BB.
