eh... i was complaining that I have a dying laptop and that RAM kinda died in there and stuff.. and I was saying that I'll buy a new computer and

I got myself a new computer, well, not NEW new, but new for me..

It's:

AMD athlon 64 3000+
120GB HDD
1GB RAM
ATi Radeon 9800 PRO
DVD RW etc.
20" 1400x1060 ViewSonic monitor

That's what I could afford at the moment and I think it's quite enough to run some games on it if I wish to, and more importantly I can play poker on it (4tables, PT, PAHUD etc.)..

So, I'm pretty happy about it...

I am also gonna buy a new laptop if this one can't be fixed or somfin' ... I am looking for something small and goot but not too expensive.. Fujitsu-Siemens 12" sounds about right.. I'll just have to wait and see... oh yea, if I get more moneyz, then prolly macbook 13"...

btw. how many sets should one (mathematically) flop per 1000 hands? or some other statistical information on flopping sets (%% or ##) .. thanks...

I looked this up, and although I've known it for a while, it's nice to rehash stuff so I don't forget it.

A set - 8.51/1 (11.76%)
ODDS: 8.51 to 1. CHANCES: 1 in 9.51. PERCENT: 11.76%.
MATH: 1-[(48/50)*(47/49)*(46/48)]
EXPLANATION: Sometimes it is easier to calculate the odds of the opposite. Here I am going to calculate the odds of NOT flopping a set and subtract it from one. To calculate the odds of not flopping a set all the cards on the flop can't have the same rank as your pocket pair. For the first card there are 48 out of 50 cards that won't hit your set. For the second card there are 47 out of 49 cards and for the third card there are 46 out of 48 cards that won't hit your set.

I'm a big fan of Caro's material, especially Poker1.com lectures that Caro gave when he was teaching...I don't know how to explain the set numbers except to say that they are probably a typo; the odds against should be 8.51 to 1.

Lectures 9, 14, and 42...I love those the best.
