I sorted the Tribeca PT freezing out (which was horribly annoying) by exporting all my Tribeca hands from my normal DB and importing them into a new DB just for Tribeca - it imports seamlessly now - totally fixed :)

Taking a step down

Taking a step down always sucks, but sometimes it has to be done. This past week and a bit I just haven't been able to win. I've played NL200, NL100, NL50, NL20. I've played SNGs from $5 buyins, to $15 turbos, to $30s. I've played MTTs. I've played PLO100, PLO50, PLO25. I've played PLo8 25 too. I've tried Limit O8. I've played full ring games and 6max games. I've watched my roll slowly decline from ~$2,000 to ~$1,000. I just can't win. I'd say about 20% of my losses are due to tilt, trying to push people off pots and playing overly agressive in games where passivity is the key, and playing like scared money when I should really be making those value bets. I'm not sure what the problem is really, but one facet I believe making up the whole problem is discipline. Not really discipline in that i'm playing too many hands, or that I get bored and try fancy moves - more discipline in that I can't stick to the one game, the one site, the one playing style and the one level of play. I can't even stick to playing the same level, some days i'll be playing NL100 and the next im playing NL25. A lot of the time it's all at the same time too. Like just earlier tonight I had 4 tables of PLO25, 2 tables of FRNL100, 1 table of 6max NL100 and 1 table of NL50. I've thought for ages that diversity in such a way was a winning concept -- perhaps not. So, it's a change from here. In fact it's (I wouldn't say completely, but massively) inspired by Runner Runner, and by reading his journal and watching his discipline in waiting for 20buyins before moving up, even when everyone pretty much knows for sure he can crush the higher games, he still grinds through NL10 to achieve that BR benchmark, it's dedication and perserverance at its best. I know I can beat this game, I started with $50 at party and $600 at full tilt, and over the past 6 months or so i've brought my roll to places between $1,000 and $4,000 several times, withdrawing money to buy things or just save it. It's probably been a bad idea withdrawing a lot of the time when re-investing it back into my br would be a much smarter idea, but oh well. From now on it's staying in and growing. From now on i'm only playing the one game, at the one level, at the one site (or network at least - tribeca for a long time for me) and will only be moving up when I have 20x the buyin.

I'll start at NL50. I will 4-table and play full-ring games only. Once i've made $1,000 i'll move up to NL100. My goal is to have my ptbb/100 at 10 (it's generous I know, but it's certainly possible and my current rate at the 50s is actually something like 15, the players at tribeca are just terrible), which means 10,000 hands and i'll be ready to move up - i'm not going to count though, if it takes 30k then so be it, if i'm done in 4k then so be it.

I'll record EVERY single session in this journal, something i've been lacking of doing lately. I'll write down the start time, end time, amount won/lost. I'll also start posting in the NL section again, i've stopped posting hands there and I know I could improve my game a lot if i did.

I start tomorrow.

Played a shortish session this morning, got off to a nice start for my new plan.

startime: 10:15am
finishtime: 11:34am
tables: 4
amount won/lost: 42.51

(this too stolen from RR)

Countdown to NL100: $1,050

I've cleared about 40% of the VC bonus but I won't count that towards my BR until it's completely unlocked.

Just played a session, I felt I played really well but still ended up down a quite bit. My two biggest losing hands I got drawn out on. First one I had QT and the flop was TT3, it was minraised preflop and i bet into the raiser on all streets and he called me down. River was a king and he pushed all in, i called and he had KK. He was only a shortstack so the river push was a must-call. Another hand i had JQs and raised in the CO, both blinds called. Flop came QQT with 2 spades, checks to me and I bet 2/3 the pot, SB folds and BB (another semi-shorstack) goes all in, I call and he has TJs for the flush draw and hits it on the turn. Oh well, what can you do?

I do mine after a session and put in the buy in for the level that I'm playing at, then report the net win/loss for the whole session. If you lose more than one buy-in, you put in a value for the 'rebuy' section. This lets you track actual hours rather than have to figure out table hours...if you put in each individual table, it can distinguish actual from table hours by the time that you punch in...but I don't care about table hours...I only care about actual hours vs ptbb/100 (the latter I get from PT of course).

For your example: I'd put in 100 buy in, cash out 250...for net 150.

Put in another short session after dinner, this one was only about 35 minutes but I think I had aces 4 times. Once I lost to KK, all-in preflop (yet again he was a shortstack tho) and there was some deadmoney in the pot so I think I broke even on that hand. The other hand it was minraised to me by a sLAG and i re-raised to $5, he pushed all-in and I called. He had jacks and didn't improve. He also happened to have a stack of about $75 (150BBs) so that was awesome.
