Never got to play my second session of the night. Stuff got in the way as it sometimes does. I finished down $7 for the day but made up $12 in UB money so I was up technically I guess.

Played only in the BTP tonight. Finished 7th going out to a flush against me AA. All-in on the flop so no a lot I could do about it. I thought I did well as I never had over 1630 in chips till the final table, short stack the whole night. Really concentrates the brain when that is all you can do.

Well I am off to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a big session as I need to get back in the swing and putting in the hours.

Tell then stay lucky

Well interesting night to say the least.

I started off playing the $50NL and to be perfectly honest found I was getting a bit of a tale whooping. I was playing really well but stuff kept going against me. I had 4 big hands and lost 3 of them. It was gay stuff, missing a draw against 4 heavily committed players then twice losing to sets. I can live with that stuff though it does suck when it compound into one session.

Well after taking a break I decided it would be good for me to do something different instead of the same old grind so I decided I would take a stab at the $100NL. I figured I would play two tables with a $300 stop limit on it and see how things go. I know normally this is not a good thing but I wanted the challenge and to really work my brain rather than get stuck into the SS DD mentality that grinding the same old tables can give you.

Long and the short of it was I made nearly enough to make up any losses and found a new home.

Results:

$50NL

Hands: 432
Amount Won: -$110.25
BB/100: -25.52

$100NL

Hands: 125
Amount Won: $79.50
BB/100: 31.80

Overall:

Hands: 557
Amount Won: -$30.75
BB/100: -12.66

Not an ideal day but at least it wasn't a disaster. Just so you guys don't think I was going all tilty my very first hand was a QQ vs KK where the KK guy really played it well, ableit high risk and took half my stack straight away. Welcome to the tables! After that I just got into me groove and built everything up until I eventually stacked a guy with a set against an over pair. About time too.

I want to review some of my play from tonight as I got into several tricky situations. Some I ended up paying off, others I did well to avoid. I am not sure my play was in the zone but I did like the $100NL feel. I figure I may as well concentrate there for the rest of the week two tabling. The fact that this is only marginally more risk than two $50NL plus I can earn off UB dollars faster makes it worth while. If I can get a little run then I can shift over completely.

Well till laters.

Tonight was the first night of my new $100NL career. I stuck with two tables except for a few instances where I was swtiching tables. I am playing UB so I try to keep on tables where the points tick over good.

Results:

Hands: 233
Amount Won: $107.60
BB/100: 23.09 (46.18 on Ice's BBs)

Not bad nights work. I had a nice session where despite losing $80 on one table I was always well up on the other. The perfect end being this...

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (8 handed)

MP1 ($22)
MP2 ($47.25)
CO ($46.75)
Button ($76.35)
Hero ($173.40)
BB ($153.65)
UTG ($131)
UTG+1 ($40.85)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [8d], [8s].
UTG raises to $3.5, 3 folds, CO calls $3.50, 1 fold, Hero calls $3, 1 fold.

Flop: ($11.50) [Kh], [2s], [8c] (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $4.5, CO calls $4.50, Hero calls $4.50.

Turn: ($25) [Ad] (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $25, CO folds, Hero raises to $67, UTG raises to $92, Hero calls $0.

River: ($184) [Qc] (2 players)

Final Pot: $184

Results below:

UTG has Ks Ac (two pair, aces and kings).
Hero has 8d 8s (three of a kind, eights).
Outcome: Hero wins $184.

My biggest pot by a long way. I had got skanked a few times leading up to this, but this was the hand I was waiting for. I decided not to bet into the raiser as I get the feeling people are catching onto this. With a draw I would risk it but I figure I shall let the others hang themselves. If one has KK then I am paying off so I am not worrying about that.

The move up so far is working for me. While I have little doubt at some point results will go south I feel I am at a good level for me. I am working harder at the table and reaping the rewards. There still seem to be several nuggets so I guess they are always there. I am just learning to pick my moments a little better. I need to get my eye in so I am a little ABC right now but I can live with that for now.

Well till next time.

GL

the pot size is wrong so that was a bigger pot than it seems. Nice god damn job you lucky bastard. Unfortunately, it would be very hard to not lose a lot with AK on that.

Agreed. Well that was some one elses nightmare. Normally that crap happens to me so it was nice to put some one on the receiving end for once. To be fair the guy who I skunked was pretty cool about it, more cool than I would be for one.

Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen...

Tonight represents the end of a phase of my life I hope never to be repeated. I have finally slain the statistic that has bugged me for 4 months. What is this statistic I hear you wonder? The statistic that has represented my poker nemesis...

Yep, how awful is that to hold on your shoulders for 4 months...

When I first went into $3/$6 limit I managed to post a losing day of $208. My best winning day, I honestly I have no clue up to this date without checking records as it wasn't over $200. Well that was till today...

$100NL

Nice eh? I have finally got rid of the worst monkey in poker. Well maybe not the worse since I can think of a few I'd rather not have but it does undermine your arguments as to why you play when someone asks how much you have won in a day then how much you have lost in a day and its like that. Well no more...

Where did this come from. Well part was a hand where I actually thought I did good tricking someone to bluff a pot then this happened. God moves in mysterious ways...

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (10 handed)

Hero ($175.15)
Button ($64.40)
SB ($99)
BB ($50)
UTG ($97.25)
UTG+1 ($34.80)
UTG+2 ($87.25)
MP1 ($96)
MP2 ($101.45)
MP3 ($199.65)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Td], [Th].
2 folds, UTG+2 raises to $4, 2 folds, MP3 calls $4, Hero calls $4, 2 folds, BB calls $3.

Flop: ($16.50) [4c], [Ts], [4s] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP3 bets $16.5, Hero calls $16.50, BB folds, UTG+2 folds.

Turn: ($49.50) [2s] (2 players)
MP3 bets $22, Hero raises to $68, MP3 raises to $114, Hero raises to $160, MP3 calls $0.

River: ($323.50) [Js] (2 players)

Final Pot: $323.50

Results in below:

MP3 has As 9c (flush, ace high).
Hero has Td Th (full house, tens full of fours).
Outcome: Hero wins $323.50.

I can only guess this guy decided he was bluffing me out on the flop and turn. Bad timing on his part though I guess TT would be the only scare hand with the flushy board and him holding the ace, nah... he was crap. Having said that I would have loved to see his face when the J fell and the chips still for pushed my way. Poker Darwianism...

For those keeping score my $100NL results are:

Hands: 479
Amount Won: $442.75
BB/100: 46.22

I am now at the 15 buy-ins I set myself so I do not feel the pinch now. I am under no illusions this cannot last but it is nice while its going. It seems a long time since I got a run together. Overall I am up $332.50 for the month plus another $30 from UB. I have nothing but poker on for the rest of the month so I hope to make it a big one. Just got to focus, keep learning and play. I shall have another couple of sessions two tabling then I shall go three tables at the weekend, and my transformation shall be complete.

Roll on $200NL...

Thanks for sharing this and for all the help I have received. I am dubious as to whether I would be here and showing these results but for the wise counsel I have gained from this site. I shall keep posting as much as possible and hope one day I shall be able to feed a little of it back down the line.

I'm a fully paid up $100NL player now.... fear my reraise!

The streak continues.... ableit at a slower pace.

$100NL

Hands: 260
Amount Won: $52.25
BB/100: 20.05 (I have been putting non-ice BBs, need to put that right)

Not a lot to report tonight, no real weird hands. Once again I flopped a full house in a raised pot with four players but no joy. Otherwise everything as pretty normal. I do feel that at this level there are more "plays" going on and people who think they are real players. I shall see things like people raising the turn then folding to reraise. I guess these are hand in the cookie jar moments. I have incorporated into my flop play a little trickery, especially when bet into. I really think this is another SS2 thing where people are faking sets by betting into the raiser. Obviously like all things its about timing and feel but its coming to me and I did lay a few "plays" on people.

I would type more but tired now. Stay lucky.

Judgement day today.

I am taking my week long wining streak to the graveyard of winning play...

Well at least I have a $100 bonus so thats one buy-in I can lose. The plan is to do the reload in a double header this weekend playing tonight and tomorrow. Should be interesting to see the differences in play, I have found normally I have to be a little bit more obvious in my play but when I have a hand people just stumble into whatever trap I lay.

Fingers crossed....

Who is afraid of the big bad Party? Not me for sure.

Jesus Christ though, talk about poker by the seat of your pants. I had some variance in this session but alls well that ends well eh?

$100NL

Hands: 308
Amount Won: $152.07
BB/100: 49.38

It was pretty crazy, I got stacked early with AJo on a board with two aces, bad guy had A7o and boated on the turn. The fact he played A7o early is all you need to know.

Then revenge... since the converter is wanking up basically I got him with A7s on a similar board when all he has was 96s for one pair of 9s. I check raised him on the river and I guess he put me on a tilt.

I nailed another guy with AKs on a board of two kings. I played this weak as there was no draw tricking a guy with JJ to chuck nearly his whole stack in. This was risky but I ruled out a f/house as the betting was too weird and I raised preflop so I was sure someone would have fired across my bows.

At this point I have gone from $130 down to $160 up. Then this happened...

forum/viewtopic.php?t=5350

I put this up as I think I bollocked it up and would like comment. I also lost a bit through some AK hands missed and a little loose (but not tilt!) play. So I was about $16 up now. Then I got back...

Got QJo late, flopped two pair and after raising a bet since the flush draw was on I got reraised by the table nugget for his small stack, the other nugget then put his slightly bigger stack in too so I called. A $140 with me against the two idiots...

Well credit this, both were on flush draws (K2s and T3s) and it MISSED!!! Two bricks on the turn and river and I am right back. I played on and won a few more pots without much hassle. Got aces twice UTG, both times raised like normal (this is Party so no messing) and both times got folded back to me, WTF. Made two big pots with KK and finished on a high.

I am still feeling the tingle, that session was hot. I played 3 tables for the first time but I got into fast as normal. I like this level since apart from the winning I feel in control. It didn't all go my own way. I might have won another $100 had I not had the poker sense to fold a gutshot to a $20 bet, damn my good poker sense. Had another weird hand where I raised PF with AKo, four callers (Party!) and missed so I decide not even to bother betting, good plan as a $200 pot develope in a set over set battle. Funny thing being the guy busted has only played 2 hands at the table and promptly left...

New anti-tilt rule. I will play with $500 on a site to start, if I get to the point I am needing to reload unless I am up big on one table and down big on another thats my lot. Two full reloads then I am out. Play again another day...

Well thats my lot for now. The streak goes on but I still need about 440 raked at Party so I am at their mercy.

This week has 100% been the best week in poker I have ever had!

Results

$100NL

Hands: 559
Amount Won: $100.43
BB/100: 17.96

This included the $80 odd dollars I lost this morning. I had a good afternoon session to say the least. I figured after the way the morning went that I would be doing well to escape with damage limitation. I was due a wanking on and Party Poker seems as good a place as any for it happen. I needed really to play this afternoon session as I wanted to finish the bonus and get the hell out of Dodge.

I had a couple of really good hands, hitting a flush which skanked a guy real bad, especially good as his name was Arsenal (come on you yids) and he was French Canadian. I also extracted myself from two hands where I had either TP or an overpair and was in deep. I managed to pull off an amazing suck out when I went all in with AJ when the flop was jack high, I figured the guy was firing one across my bows, he called with QQ. Turn A, river J. Nice. I managed to finish up $180 for the session which was great as you can imagine.

I should put down the weeks stats as this is mind blowing. It has easily been the best week I have had, long may it continue.

$50NL

Hands: 432
Amount Won: -$110.25
BB/100: -51.04 (Ice BBs/100)

$100NL

Hands: 1606
Amount Won: $747.50
BB/100: 46.54 (Ice BBs/100)

Total:

Hands: 2038
Amount Won: $637.25
BB/100: 25.86

Add to this another $140 I have made in bonus money from UB and Party and it is a happy happy week. I know I am due some beats though I did take a whooping at the $50NL so maybe some of my karma got shot there. I have now more than enough to play $100NL comfortably.

The aim of the next few months will be to slowly work my way to about $3000 so I can start looking at the $200NL. This will take a while regardless as some of my profit (should there be any, touch wood) will be going to pay for my up and coming nuptials. I am no rush to move though as $100NL was my aim really once I started NL, I figured it would take a while longer.

I do seem find my game more comfortable at the $100NL. I think this might in part be due to the posts on this site mainly coming from $100NL and $200NL. I am recognising situations I have seen in posts and making the plays with the right thought process behind it. I guess a big thank you should go to the posters on this site (again).

I know the crap will start hitting soon but I feel as a player I am in a frame of mind to cope. I fully expect things to get nasty as these weeks are the exception rather than the rule.

I am just going to smile and enjoy it...

Decided to play some limit poker tonight with the missus, $0.50/$1. Wholly feck, who did I ever play that game for so long???

Needless to say I proceeded to make a mess of things playing my new found I-know-better-than-these-monkeys style and found raising with 54s on the bottom then betting the flop and getting 6 callers wasn't the way to play...

Won't bore you with scores as it ended up respectable when I started attacking the table bluffer, if a little down. I have told the wife that while I shall support her in her endevours I am not sitting at the same table again till she is at least playing $2/$4. Sorry Honey...

By the way, what the hell is wrong with Paradise? It was slow as, I have only two of my hand histories dispite requesting every 5 mins, so I guess I shall be getting them for the next 4 days. Also there is the case of the "missing table" where it seems Paradise lose the table and it vanishes from the lobby. All very disconcerting. I think there is a reload next month which is stackable so I shall do it but god knows when I shall be bored enough to play it.

Well got to sleep, back to work tomorrow at the $100NL.
