Aggression is over-rated and an absolutely USELESS tool against imbeciles.

Sunday is tournament day. I promised myself that I would play well and have a good cash or 2 today. But the worst of the worst come out of the woodwork for Sunday tournaments. And you need a lot of luck to beat stupidity.

#1 - Open-push A8 in MP. Called by 99 in BB. Not a bad beat or anything, except for the Ace on the flop, 9 on the river.

#2 - I made what I thought was a brilliant push on the turn with KQ for an OESD+2 overs on a JTx board. Unfortunately, aggression means nothing to an idiot who can't fold Ace-hi because....you know....an Ace could come on the river....and they might miss it. Then an open-push from the button with KJ gets insta-called by A7 in the SB for 11BB. Little loose....eh...I don't know. JxA on the flop giving me the K-hi flush draw too. Whiff.

#3 - HORSE - FUCK HORSE. People don't even know what game they're playing, doesn't stop them from winning through bad, neigh, HORRIBLE calls......NEXT

#4 - Highlight of my day. Proves my point about idiots. Please tell me what the hell he was doing. FOLD FOLD FOLD!!!

Agression in tournaments. AHAHAHAHAHA.........AHAHAHAHAHAHA....so over-rated. I SUCK!

Being the very slightly superstitious person that I am, I wanted to see if my luck would improve if I stopped posting in this journal every day. May this was the jinx. What would happen if I only posted weekly summaries instead?

The result: +30.06 BB/100 over 2631 hands this week.

I pulled myself out of the early December hole and I've even caught up with my Sklansky Bucks since November......almost. Although, I'm still running slightly under on sets, but at least I'm started to win and pick up some decent pots with them again.

Trying to reach both Silver Star on Pokerstars and Iron Man on Full Tilt (Silver level also) is proving to be more difficult than I had thought. The slow rate of point accumulation on Stars is the main reason. I've already put in more hands this month than I have in any month this year.

Tournaments are a different story though. Now 0 for my last 20 Sunday MTT's over the past 3 weeks. No bet or raise is going unpunished. Those with 2 call buttons in place of their fold button can't lose. Some examples from today:

340 hands seen today - 0 AA, 1 KK (lost)
- KK < AK
AK 6x all-in preflop.
- AK < AQ 2x
- AK = AQ 1x
- AK > A7
- AK < 77 - he re-raised my UTG raise from BB then insta-called the push. No wonder he was the chip leader.
- AK < 88
But then....
- QQ < A6o - he limped, then called the raise for 1/2 his stack. Ace on the flop naturally, he pushes for the rest of it.

I guess the above post no longer applies since Full Tilt has decided that I'm gonna be the whipping boy for Super Flops and Jackpot Rivers for the remainder of the year. Sometimes you're the beneficiary of them, sometimes you're the fish bait. But they're always there. In addition to running my only big pair (KK) into AA, I saw.......
- straight flush over flush (53s < J9s)
- quads (77) over set over TPTK (AK) on the turn
- straight flush draw vs straight flush draw (2 different suits) on with 2 players getting it all-in on the turn in HU pot preflop (neither hit, Full Tilt already had it's rake)
- QQ river a set on KK for a stack
all in a 300 hand session today. Gotta get all the rake while they still have US players I guess. It generally takes me about 3x as long to accumulate 100 points on Stars as it does on Full Tilt. Every other hand is a big pot. I've now had my 2 worst sessions in 2 1/2 months this week and a 5 session losing streak overall at Tilt. Solution? Start folding overpairs, especially KK preflop?

Image

So that's about a 12K hand sample.
- I'm still running slightly under on sets (little less than 10% as compaired to the normal 12% or so)
- 1 set vs an overpair and only a $10 profit, yet my overpairs have run into 4 sets for -$53 during that span.
- KK vs AA - just awesome. Strangely doesn't really work the other way around either. Losing money overall with KK in this timespan.

Only good thing is that I haven't really flopped enough sets to get set over setted at all.

7 of my 8 biggest losing pots with AA/KK this month are at Full Tilt, while my 3 largest wins are all at Stars.

My favorite hand of the day though was trying a stupid bluff on the river where the board was [6c][Jd][9h][Kh][Qh] where villain min-raised from SB preflop then bet 1/2p flop and turn, but checked river. Got insta-called for 2/3p by a black AQ. Couldn't have had anything that beats a black Q on that board, could I?

Any questions as to why the past few months have gone nowhere? Can't wait to pick up that $500 bonus and be out of Full Tilt for good soon. Probably gonna end up loosing $500 just to collect it.

I think I just set a new world record for being min-raised and/or c/r'ed tonight. Not even subtle. It's not even subtle how rigged Full Tilt is for the rake. At least they don't give a shit who wins, as long as the pot is big enough. I got a chance to sit in the lucky seat tonight and take back the 2 stacks I lost this afternoon. It's still pretty obnoxious though. Again, in only 327 hands.

- 1st PFR - BB call, call, pot donk on rag turn
- JJ into bigger PP.
- guy calls limp/re-raise for 1/2 his stack with KQo. Cracks AA on 3 club flop vs [Ac]. Only on Full Tilt
- I finally am the one to pick up AA and they give someone else KK for a full stack.
- In a min-raised 3-way pot holding [9h][8h], flop is [Th][9d][6h]. There is a pot bet AND a min-raise before it even gets to me. I say fuck it and push, both fold.
- I run QQ into bigger PP. I call the limp/re-raise from the 18/3 (200+ hands), fold to overpush on JTx flop w/ 2 hearts.

And now for the 2nd orbit......uhm, yeah, just about the 1st 30 hands there on 3 tables.
- I get called down with TT by A-hi, preflop, flop, and turn. A on the river.
- 2nd call, call, pot donk on rag turn of the night out of the blinds (I had AJ both times)
- I snap off Aces with T7s for a stack when I hit the GSSD of my twelve outter on the turn. Way to min-raise then check the flop with AA. GENIUS!
- Turned set vs turned gut-shot 2 outter for a straight on the turn. 2 full stacks
- I get min-raised and then c/r'ed on two consecutive PFR's where I whiffed.
- Someone else runs QQ into AA.
- Flopped set loses to turned bigger set in a giant pot.
- I get c/r'ed again with AJ for a 3rd and then 4th time. WTF is it with this hand tonight? I'm c/r'ed by a blind 8 out of 13x tonight in total.
- On a 6838 board 3 players are all-in. The hands - JJ, 86, and 83. Boat over boat over overpair. So subtle.
- I get check-raised again with TP. KT this time on KQQ board
- Even better than set over set, it's quads over set
- Then 2 hands later set over set again. Same guy was involved in all 3 hands (both set over sets and quads over set. All happened in 2 orbits)
- I get c/r'ed again on my next 2 preflop raises, tilt, call a raise with A6s, call a pot donk by the BB (not even the PFRer) and hit the flush on the turn for a stack. BB had overpair (JJ) and potted turn into me as well then called off the rest.

Just your normal hour and a half on Full Tilt. I also played an hour and a half today on Stars too. Not nearly as many action flops. No QQ or KK vs AA, none, zero. No sets vs quads or flushes vs straight flushes or any of that shit. Yet it's like every orbit at Tilt now.

Now 2 for 54 in sets this week and both times KK for a total profit of $6.

Sidenote: Now less than 800 hands away from my first 10K hand + 30 MTT month. However, with tournaments only tomorrow and the holidays this week, I might not get there. In terms of hours I'm up to 83h45m for December. 100 hours would be a record too. Oh, and how has so much poker this month worked out for me? +$20 so far.

Clowns To The Left Of Me, Jokers To The Right

So I've hit the 10K hand mark this month and I'm probably just about done with cash games for the year. Overall I had a horrible first week of December, a good run about for about a week in the middle in the month, and then been basically hanging around even for the remainder of it. It comes down to the Sunday tournaments tomorrow as to whether the month will be a winner or a loser. And judging by how the Sunday tournies have treated me lately, I'm dead meat. I had a few shots at locking up a profit for the month today, but things went sour.

1 - I ran TT into AT all-in preflop in the Silver $20K VIP Freeroll on Stars. He flopped 3 of the suit of his T and hit the Ace of that suit on the river for insult. I finished 31st out of 5224. Sounds a lot better than it was. $32 profit, but if I win that hand, I'm set up pretty good to make a run at the final table that started with $200+ which is where all the real money was in that tourny.

I really can't complain though because it's the best I ran in a tourny in a while. My constant luck of pushing into big hands in the blinds from late position didn't change, as 4 times I shoved into AK/KK+ in the SB/BB, but I cracked AK twice when dominated (AQ, A9s).

2 - Eh, maybe I got the lyrics wrong, but clowns and jokers all over the place tonight on a normally rocky Stars $50 FR selection. This should be good, but in the span of 19 hands (less than 10 minutes) all 3 of these hands occurred.

- I raise [Ad][Qd], get 2 callers, and a re-raise from a tight, very aggressive BB. Less than 3x my raise though so I called and so did 1 clown behind me. Long story short, there's a 3-way all-in on the turn - [9d][Js][8d][6d]. I think I have the nuts, but the clown called a raise and re-raise with [Td][7d] in middle position. That's ok, there's side pot because he only had 60% of a stack, but the board paired and the BB had top set. Ace high flush on the turn finishes 3rd.

- Few hands later, same table, 3 limpers and I raise [Js][Jh] to 6.5xBB. Only the last MP joker calls. Before I even saw the flop, I somehow knew he was min-raising me on the flop no matter what hit. He has a big laggish.
[5h][7s][Qs] I bet 2/3p, and sure enough he min-raises. I put in the largest re-raise I could without committing myself. He insta-called and I gave up (ch/f) on the turn.

- Same exact time on the next table, 3 limpers to me with [Qd][Qh] in the SB. I get another shot. This time I raise to 7.5x BB. BB calls and the clown on the Button calls.
[9d][Td][Ks] Again I bet 2/3p, BB insta-calls putting him all-in, Button insta-pushes but only for the size of the pot. I actually think about calling getting 2.5 to 1 about, but fold.
BB has [As][Tc] and Button has [Kc][Th] which prompts me to ask.......

"How many clowns do we have here?"
One guy answers "just me" and Button says "me too".
Me: "Yeah, I know about you. I just saw your last hand."
Button: "What? Did you see what I had?"
Me: "Yeah, you had KT."
Button: "What the heck is KT mean? Are you illeterate? I had 2 pair"
Me: "What the heck is KT mean? Oh wow"

BTW - Jack on the turn. I shoulda tilted off.

- A couple hand later I pick up AKo in BB with 3 limpers + SB and make another raise. All fold, but SB crack-head min-re-raises me. I laugh for about 10 seconds and then shove. Dumbass folded.

Finished -$35 which is basically my defecit for the month now (actually -$42).

Last note, my under-average set run over the past 2 months continues. 0 for 31 since Thurs. (826 hands)

Why I Love The Sunday Tournies

Thankfully, this will be my last rant of 2007. It's a good thing I expect to see disgusting things every Sunday because it never fails. December was my worst tournament month of the year and included a 1 cash in 30 attempts in Sunday MTT's. Planned on playing 7 today, but couldn't stomach much more after the first 4.

The first tournament today was just the perfect picture of the entire tournament run this month. I won 6 of the first 11 hands dealt and was gone on the 12th thanks to 2 dipshits I'll call clown #1 and clown #2. I won the first 2 pots of the tournament with TP and T2P out of the blinds. Then I run into clown #1 for the first time when I raise with [Kc][Qh] on a [9s][6h][Qc] board. Clown #1, who limped from EP, calls the raise then also a turn bet [7c]. Then he decides to bet into me when I catch 2 pair on the river [Kh]. I call and he shows [As][9d]. I have no idea wtf he's thinking.

I fold hand 4, then pick up [Ad][As] on the 5th hand. Clown #2 min-raises.......

Absolutely you will be rewarded for that awesome preflop play.

I fold the next hand, but flop a set of 5's against clown #1 in hand 7. Clown calls a flop bet but bets into me turn and river on a [4h][Ks][5h][Ah][Ts] board. He has [Kc][3s]. I fold 2 hands then take the next 2 in the blinds with top pair.

Lastly, I pick up [Ah][Kd] OTB, Clown 1 limps, and Clown 2 raises (3xBB) again........

-$93.90 for the month

Plus close to $6K for the year, but here's the really depressing part.....
$4,600 came in 1 MTT in March.
Another $555 came from bonuses.
So I profited less than $900 the rest of the year. Maybe it's time for me to quit playing poker after I clear the $500 Full Tilt bonus, cause that right there is a joke. Maybe I don't run bad, maybe I just suck.

Will be running the year end numbers and charts later tonight or tomorrow afternoon either here or on my blog.

I've been posting all the daily updates at my blog thinking that it might bring me luck and I've been playing pretty well with good results so far. I was just going to post the results from the first full week of January here tonight, but the shit I see every night at Full Tilt continues to amaze me so instead, here are just a series of sick hands from today only (618 hands). I should have lost about 10 stacks today, but was able to fold or get away cheap with a LOT of big hands that turned into losers and capatilize on the few winners. That's basically what I've been doing all week. Pounding the nuts or near nuts and just folding a lot with TPTK or better to pushes. I even folded 1 set on the river vs someone who flopped the flush. Anyway, here's some sick hands with relevant stats for some players including their results for some of the bigger maniacs.

PS - I think only about $350-$400 of that bonus is realistic.

1 - Lost with top 2 pair (KJ) vs a flush draw. Short stack called off without even the implied odds to chase his flush on the turn. Doesn't stop him from hitting on the river. Eh, no big deal the first time, right?

2 - Here's one of the better ones. I have no idea WTF he was thinking. He CALLED THE RIVER RAISE!

4 - A 46/3 player just pounded me after I raised with AK and missed the hand before. Very next hand I pick up the same hand. I usually look to limp re-raise here, but the PFRer was pretty tight and I figured him for a big hand. Here I was planning and if I flopped an Ace I was gonna go for a stack, play it more cautiously with a K. I effin knew he had a set here. I was considering folding the turn before the c/r and was definitely folding to a river fire, but just couldn't yet.

5 - Limp re-raise a 50/8 player with QQ. Called naturally. A&K on the flop. Check/check flop. 1/2 pot bet turn, maniac is all-in.

6 - I raise from the BB with [As][Kh]. I fire flop and turn on [8c][Td][9s][Jc] board and get called down by [Ah][2h].

7 - Flopped a flush with [Jd][Td] and flush over flushed [5d][3d]. Guy only started with $10.

8 - [As][Js] < [Ad][Tc] on [3s][7h][Ac] flop.

9 - The PFRer here was pretty tight and a good player. The other clown was the guy with the A2s in hand 6. I really thought he was going to call, but I was also expecting him to have the straight flush too. How many times am I going to flop a set and someone has a set or better tonight? Tell ya later. No need to EVER slowplay on Full Tilt. Don't worry, if you flop big at least 1 other person has too. And yes I'm only playing for 2 pair or better against the PFR'er here and probably wouldn't have even been in the hand if it weren't for CO.

10 - [Ah][6h] on [8h][Ad][Kh] flop. EP limper 35/11 has [As][Ac]. Board pairs on the turn. The last 5 times I've flopped a pair+flush draw, someone had a set.

11 - 2 limpers and I raise [Ac][Kc] from SB. Again I flop TPTK and a set miner pushes all-in on the turn. I fold, just like I did just about every time I had AK today.

12 - ANOTHER flush tonight, again vs better than a set. I know, I shoulda raised the turn, but opponent was a maniac bettor, not caller. How am I supposed to figure that the guy pounding every hand has a set. I think woulda stacked him too if the board hadn't paired.
