If he's really as good as you say, you are probably the last person he wants to double up. Not only will you have a stack almost 2x his size if you call his re-raise and win, but you will have position on him for most hands. He definitely doesn't want this. I would think that he would dump a mediocre hand to your re-raise.
Your probably about 50/50 here. Of course you would know him better than me, but I'm thinking AA-88 as possibilities. You're way ahead of half of these and way behind half of these. AK or AQ are coin flips. If he has any smaller Ace he probably folds. If he has any smaller PP he probably just calls.
Damn tough situation because of your chip stack. If you'd seen him have to turn over some hands it would probably be an easier decision. You'll still have a good sized stack with position. I'd probably fold, not very happily, and wait for more information on him. Then go on tilt when he shows TT.
