As a preface to this hand, this is a turbo tourney and we're about middle of the pack.
I had played two hands in recent history - both were 3xBB open raises, and both were uncalled so I just took the blinds.
In this hand, not only had antes started, but by the time the action got to me - there were 2 limpers.
I wake up with aces on the button. I make a raise to 800 (4xBB).
Here's the fun part: I get flat called by the SB (4k), BB (6k), and both limpers (10k and 2.8k). I was the shortest stack to start 2.3k.
In retrospect, at the point of my action, there's 225 in antes, 300 from blinds and 400 from limps. Pushing with my short stack is vastly superior here. That said, in my bad position, I've now got a situation...
The flop is . SB checks and BB leads for the minimum (200). The first limper flat calls and the second now min-raises - so it is 400 to me.
With all of the money in the pot, I doubt there's much chance of folding anyone here with good values. But just how many of them have "good values" here?
In the end - I pushed and was called by everyone. And, believe it or not - I ended up walking away with a large stack... go figure.
Still - the preflop raise is not enough right? And in a "normal" situation - pushing in that position can't be right can it?
