I finally did it!!!!

I won a MTT at PokerRoom. $10+$1 rebuy tourney. Cashed in $1080. My first MTT win.

This is the fourth time I've played this particular tourney, and I'm 3-for-4 in making the final table. Bagged a 4th, a 9th, an OTM and now the win.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging. BUT I AM!!! So get over it.

205 people in this one.

It's a $10+$1 at PokerRoom. You get one non-restricted rebuy for $10 in the first hour. One add-on for $10 at the end of the first hour. So total cost of $31.

I really like that format. One rebuy, no more. Tends to keep things relatively sane. I've played a couple of unlimited rebuy tourneys, and they get absolutely insane.

My strategy has been to immediately rebuy, during the first hand. So I'm starting the tourney with 3000 chips. That's a psychological thing for me as much as anything else. Keeps me from worrying about the blinds creeping up on me, and it also tends to intimidate the monkeys, who usually will wait until they're almost out of chips before rebuying, so they never really have a decent stack.

And then just sit and wait until the first hour is over and add-on another 1500 chips. I'll play a couple or three hands in that first hour, but I won't go to war. If I can pick up a couple of cheap pots, I will, but I give it up quickly if it's not a certainty.

So I've been starting the second hour with around 4500 chips, generally between about 4300 and 4700. I'll loosen up a little bit as the second hour progresses, but slowly. Just enough to try to keep around an average chip stack and stay ahead of the blinds. Generally, as the end of the second hour approaches, most of the monkeys are gone and play tightens up considerably as we start closing in on the money spots. That's when I start attacking.

It's worked very well so far, as you can see from my results. You'll see me back there again.

Man, that's super, fishy. Way to go! It also sounds like you've got a very sound strategy going. Keep it up.
