Some of the $1,000 freerolls have no raked hands requirements -- I played in two of those, each had 5000+ entrants. And these $1,000 freerolls with 5,000 entrants are crazy loose. I mean, of course they are -- at 20c per player on average who wants to spend a lot of time on them? I watched the # of players drop -- it was a pretty consistent 100 players down PER MINUTE until half were gone -- from 5000 down to 2500 in 25 minutes! I made it to #1500 or so the first time I played, but overplayed some pocket pairs like an idiot.
I'm having a hard time taking these freerolls seriously. I tend to go all-in the first time I get an ace or a king, hoping to either double up or not waste any more time. I bet a lot of people do the same, contributing to the crazy speed at which the # of players dwindles.
GC now also has $2000 freerolls which pay $500 for first place. You have to have x raked hands to play them, which that limits the # of entries -- only about 500-800 have been playing in them the last few nights. A $500 payday for no risk would feel awful good to me though, so I hope to keep trying these.
