Grrr I hate weak tight players in a Tournament

Postby Rhound50 » Sat Jan 22, 2005 7:03 pm

I am playin the turbo $10 on paradise poker. I'm in BB with K/J clubs. Blinds are 150/300. I have 5k in chips villian has about 2200.
Villian one unit raise from middle position 3 players call so I call. Pot = 2400
Flop is 3c36c I am pretty sure the raiser is playin big cards so I lead 800 chips into the raiser. He raises all in for another 630 chips. Now Im stuck I pretty much have to call, the pot is almost 5k and its only another 600 chips. Weak tight player turns over AK. Are you kidding me, just fold you hand moron. I still have 12 outs and I miss and moron boy takes the pot with A high. Now that I have vented a little, I hate playing weak tight players in a tournament, in a cash game heck yahhh they will go bust and I just hope I'm the one that gets to punish them to draw with my made hand. In tourneys these people scare me, they have no chance in hell of winning but they can handicap your stack and then piss it away to everyone else at the table.

I wouldn't call it weak tight I would call it weak loose. Weak tight tend to only play made hands.

You over bet the pot with a semi bluff. As you said, If he folds he would only 630 left so he had to call with AK.

Turned into a race. At least you had him covered.

If I ain't sinkin', well I must be swimin' If I ain't dead, I must be livin' Livin' is the thing, that scares me the most And if I ain't sleepin', well I better be fishin' If I ain't anchored I will be driftin' But all and all, I'm doing pretty good, since I hit my third coast!

My understanding of weak tight is someone who is tight preflop but cant fold a big hand after missing the flop. The real reason I made this play was after his preflop bet he has 1400 chips left and I thought he would have to lay down his big cards to a big bet. I intentionally bet big enough that he wasn't going to have enough chips left to think he could push back.

I re-read both your post and my reply. I was wrong. I was thinking he called your bet then went all in on the next round.

When I think of weak/tight I think of a calling station. He wasn't calling he was raising. But it doesn't matter it was a bad play on his part to call your bet with only ace high.

Sorry about that i played B&M poker till 5am last night and had just gotten up when I replied to your post.
