Thanks CJ - I figured a set would just call here. I guess he is a new player. Not much to do with that hand.
As CJ C. says you can't just fold every time somebody throws chips at you.
I folded the winner yesterday in a MTT (at least he said that he did not have an Ace). I was CO first in with A8o and had about 1400 (start with 1500) and tried to steal the blinds by raising 3xbb = 120.
I did not pay attention to the BTN's stack - he had 6,300
- he called. Now HU.
Flop A66 and I made a solid 80% pot bet and he called - I did not like that.
Turn 7 and it went check, check.
River 9 - I checked and he bet the pot about 1/2 my stack.
I could not call. If I call and lose I have only $450 left. Either fold or raise all-in. I came very close to pushing representing A9. Instead, I folded.
There was some chat and he said he had QJ clubs.
My mistake was tangling with a big stack OOP.
Don't lose your entire stack in an unraised pot or with only one pair.
