MTT exit - too aggressive?

Postby Smokin'Al » Sat Apr 23, 2005 4:04 pm

PokerStars $50. 39 left. we're at the bottom of the pay-out structure, next jump is 30 I think. I have $12K chips with blinds at 400/800, 100 antes. Average is $15K.

I'm just getting back into MTTs (finally picked up Harrington's book this morning!), so I doubt I have any skill edge over the field.

I have 78s in the BB, folded to the SB who min raises ($1600). SB has $14K and has been fairly aggressive. I reraise all-in. He insta-calls and shows A3o, which holds up.

So ... should I just have called and tried to take the pot on the flop, or even folded? And did he play as badly as I thought he did at the time?

I think if I'd *known* he was going to call with A3o I still would have called (in fact I've just discovered from 2dimes that I was 48%).

ps If you're reading MadGenius, was fun playing with you +fan club. I'd have called your dodgy all-in if there hadn't been someone still to act ... not :)

Yeah I like a smooth-call there. I made a pretty bad play with those 55 although I felt confident UTG had Ax and you had a medpair. I had SB on a wide range of hands and figured my folding equity to be extremely high. But sadly I was wrong.
