Pleeease, raise this flop OTB to 150-160 and fold to a 3-bet. If he pushed, I'd fold because you're flipping most of the time and it's early while these guys are really weak and he'd've raised a PP you beat PF. The unraised pot raises the variance when this pot gets big with the 50/50 diamond draws and the 2 pair combos.

As played, no reason to feel like you didn't have the best hand on the flop. But he bet the flop with something. I'd put him on diamonds and bet the turn for about 110 to fold to resistance. Whether I bet the turn or not, I'm checking behind on the river and this is why I like betting the turn- to take control of the pot size, making my river decision easier should he bet.

When you check behind on the turn and he shoves the river, unless you hit a 9 or an 8, you have to fold. An 8 would be extremely marginal, IMO. It's an OK push on Villian's part because he'll get a 9 to call, but he had no reason to think you had an OK 9. He's praying that you have a 3 or floated the flop with QT. If I'm Villian, I lead the turn for 100-120 to maximize my 40-60%PS river bet.

The "when I have something, he always has nothing" approach to HU is a losing mindset because you'll only win small pots and lose big pots and minimize your ROI, if not put you in the red.
