This forum seems pretty quiet at the moment, so I'll just carry on posting!
Paradise $60 NL. We're down to 21, top 20 are paid. It's just after the break, and the blinds are 400/800 with uhhh whatever the antes are. 100? They won't change for 15".
On my table there are 8 players, so there is 2K in every pot. I made a stupid stupid mistake just before the interval, and dropped down to 4K.
First hand after the interval I'm in the SB, and open-push with [8h] into the BB who has 1.5K. He folds and I'm up to 5.5K. So far so good.
Second hand I'm on the button with [Js]. MP limps with 4.5K behind, he is a typical rubbish Paradise sponge, no specific reads. So there's 2.8K in the pot. I move in.
Any comments on this play? My strategy was based on two thoughts:
(1) I have no interest in finishing in places 20-10 (10th paid like $100 or something), I'd rather go out immediately and go and play cash games for much higher expectation.
(2) Most people don't seem to play this way, hence would need a much stronger hand to call, if there's a chance they could go out in 21st.
So ... is the strategy completely dumb? If not, did I overplay it here?
