Kowboy

If I ain't sinkin', well I must be swimin' If I ain't dead, I must be livin' Livin' is the thing, that scares me the most And if I ain't sleepin', well I better be fishin' If I ain't anchored I will be driftin' But all and all, I'm doing pretty good, since I hit my third coast!

It's as exact as I can remember it.

I called and here is why.

1. I have been seeing a lot of final tables lately but I am short stacked and end up having to play hands I am not comfortable with. So, I was either going to go broke or go dominate. If I wanted to dominate I had better start making a move.

2. I put him on a J and he was trying to protect against a flush draw. If he had anything bigger he would not have played the hand so hard. So I had 7 outs that were spades. 3 outs for the king and maybe 3 outs for the Ace but if the pusher had AJ then the ace wasn't an out. So I figured 10 outs.

After I called he turned over A9o the A was a spade. Luckly no spade came and I doubled up even though now I am concidered the biggest fish at the table.

The next hand.

You have AQo in MP with 15000 in chips. 21 players left top 20 get paid.

Same table blinds are now 400/800 I think. EP or EP+1 with 25000 makes it 1600. You call and another player calls.

The flop is Qxx two clubs. EP bets 1600 you raise 3200. The other caller mucks. EP goes all in.

So you had AK in the first hand then?

The second hand is a difficult situation - and is more complicated because of the hand previous - they just saw you win a hand to bring you back from a short stack. The theory here is they may believe you are more interested in keeping your equity than building up more - and therefore might make this play with a flush draw or AK.

Still, I'd probably hem and haw over this and eventually fold. Although I've got TPTK - I don't like the flush draw out, and depending on what the x's are - I don't like the board really. If I thought I was ready to move in with this hand though - I'd want my raise to be all-in - rather than calling. Calling is a much harder thing to do here.

Now, if the player was already identified as a moron - this would be an easy call too...

I called think the only thing that beats me is AA or KK.

He turns over AQs both clubs. A clubs floats down the river and I am out in 21st making the guy with T1000 very happy.

Looking back I should have mucked this hand because the best I was going to get was a split.

As for raising all in. I wanted QK ect to call. I figured I would get a fold with the raise instead of his all in. This was on Prima so I didn't have long to think about it and I hit call to fast.

Live and learn.

My motto in tournments is not to mess with the big stacks (when i'm also a fairly big stack) unless I hold the nuts...Actually I think you should let that AQ go preflop...Too much of the time you're up against AK, AA, KK ,or QQ.
