my first month of PLO

Postby Stl10202 » Sat Jan 22, 2005 2:35 pm

Well thanks to the article from FM I have indulged in the great game of PLO. It has been a month since I first sat down and read his first article and now I play it much much more than holdem. The only thing I don't like about omaha is there is no supporting software but I am on the waiting list for a beta version when it arrives.

I have learned many new things while playing omaha . Some include that it is even more important to lay down strong hands than it is in holdem, i.e. laying down bottom set or not betting AAxx into a coordinated flop. It is hard not to take these hands to the river but sometimes you must, at least thats my first month experience talking.

Taking notes on players is a little more in depth than holdem. For instance, holdem you basically say "plays any two suited." PLO offers so many more draws that it is interesting to see how they are played by different people.

Slowplaying isn't the greatest play in the world in PLO bc the nuts can always change. The only time I slowplay is when I know I have the nuts and the possibility of it changing are very slim. I have some great slowplays that I remember that totally killed the opponents stack. My hand usually invloved a boat that I flopped that has a small possibility of being beat. One I will always remember is when I limped with AAxx and the flop was A22. I checked and the turn was 8. I bet and some guy raises me pot. I reraised and we ended up getting our money in. He had 88xx. Good times.

My PLO bankroll looks like this. I started on 12-20-04 and there was a small break bc I went home from school from the 1st to the 12th.

Total hours played (I usually play 2-4 tables and just record the times for EACH table which is why this is high): 56.67
Total Gain/Loss: +$274.32
BB/HR: $4.84 (Gain/Time) Is this number calculated right?
The hands played and BB/100 hands is not calculated yet bc I forgot Empire has the statistics. So I have to go back and estimate how many hands I played per table.

A question for you guys, when you play do you record what time you sat down and started your SESSION or do you count EACH table like I do?

I would also like to thank the other people from this forum who have helped me with my game and any others I talk to over AIM.

Well, I hope some of the things i've said help you but monk is the one to thank because most things I learned came from him.

For my omaha records, I just use the session start time because I just play two tables and start and finish them practically at the same time. I've mainly been playing limit holdem to work off a bonus so I haven't played omaha in a week and only started keeping good records a couple weeks ago (I know, this was stupid of me).

Right now, I've played 18.75 hours, 1502 hours and I'm up $77.17 in 6 sessions. Not great but not terrible. $4.12 an hour or $5.14 per 100 hands.
