Hand 1:
$100 PLO at Interpoker. I'm in BB with $95 and get dealt Jh Jc 3d 5s. Only 1 MP caller, SB completes, and I check. Flop is Ac 4h 2d. I bet pot of $3. MP folds and SB calls. Turn is the As. SB checks. I bet $4 into a $8.50 pot. SB calls. River is the Ah. SB bets $5. What do you do? Who likes/hates my turn bet?

Hand 2:
Interpoker again. I have $89 and am UTG with 8d 7h 6c Ac. It's a passive table and I limp with this. 3 more callers, SB is in, and the BB checks. Flop is Ah 5c 9c. Checked to me and I bet pot of $6. I have the nut flush draw and a straight draw - 15 nut outs. One MP caller (who started with $52) and the rest fold. Turn is the Jh. I decided to bet out again - I'm going to call if he bets so I think I should bet here with the chance he may fold. He calls again and the river is the Js. I check and he goes all-in for $27 into a $50ish pot. I fold. Do you like the way I played this? Is the fold on the river automatic?

Thanks,

Martin

Hand 1, I would likely have bet the pot on the turn or at least closer to the pot size. On the river, I would likely fold because he probably has a PP and is trying to get a little more out of you.

Hand 2 - I think the fold on the river is automatic because you aren't beating much, not even an ace with a T kicker. I likely would have checked the flop unless I was in last or next to last position so i can take the free card if I want. This may be wrong as I've been playing a little weak with my big draws, but I would definitely bet it in position. Position is key with drawing hands.

Cheers guys. The first hand I decided to call - I'm not sure if you noticed but I have JJ which gives me AAAJJ. I really wasn't sure what he had so I fancied the call. If he had an A I was surprised he didn't raise the turn. The only reason he wouldn't raise the turn would be if he only had 3 of a kind (and not a full house) - but then I wouldn't have expected him to call on the flop with 1 pair. He did have the last A (and a lone pair of A's on the flop) as it turned out.

Hand 2 I was happy with how I played. It shows the importance of position of course - if I was last to act I may have been able to show down the river for free - but I'm pretty sure I was losing.

I missed that you had JJ so I thought you just had the straight so I wouldn't have been so quick to fold on the river but I probably would have. The only reason I would call is like monk said, to find out information for the future with very little belief that I would win but i'm used to $25 tables where people just think "I have a full house, I have to bet it" even if he just had 22 not KK or the other Ace.

Lol I saw u had JJ hence my answer :). Like I said, there's nothing he can be drawing to so he has some semblance of a made hand all the way. Low or mid set I think he'd bet or raise at some point (most likely), so 2 pair or top pair with some mediocre draw seem quite likely. So if he had a low set or maybe bottom 2 pair you win, otherwise he has an ace. He might also have QQ or KK, you never know! Anyways, the $5 call is not bad at all as it's fine to sometimes pay a slight -ve EV one in a small pot to force a showdown. You never know, you might just have got lucky and caught him on 44 or something!
