How much would you call here?

Postby Hofstra » Fri Apr 29, 2005 10:31 am

$50 on PLO.

Opponent in this hand has $35, I have $50. He is a regular, although not very good.

I have [7d][9d][Tc][Jc] in MP and call a min raise from UTG. Opponent calls from the SB, BB calls.

Flop: [6d][8d][Kc]. blinds check UTG min bets, I raise the pot, opponent in LP calls, UTG folds.

Turn: [7s]. opponent checks, I bet pot, opponent calls.

River: [3d]. Opponent immediately moves allin for his remaining $11. Pot is big, but I expect to see a higher flush, so I fold.

What size of bet would you consider the maximum to call in this situation? In this case I cannot see him have anything else than the nut flush draw + two pair or bottom set, since he didn't have odds to draw to a naked flush. But I'm afraid that if I make folds like this too often people will pick up on that and bet into me as soon as a draw hits. If I were him I would have bet that river too, even if I didn't have the flush...

You have to call that river really, in MOST cases. Lose your $11 and move on, but if he shows some garbage it's potentially a big pot. As this is 50PLO, I'm guessing that bet is about $80+? In that case, a call may not be +EV but I still find it hard to lay that down.

I would want the last bet to be less than 1/8th of the pot or so I think, though I might consider calling $10 into a $60 pot against certain clueless opponents!

Don't worry about people reading your game at 50PLO because it's likely they're taking note only of their own cards.

I agree with mon that you really should call a possible bluff for 11$ i this big pot
I cried because I had no draw, until I met a man with no pair>>>MVSPORTS
