No reads on the villain. Raising the turn sucks right? And I have to VB this river right? Can I call though?

I don't see how yoou can NOT raise the turn when you have such a huge hand. 9 clubs, 9 spades and two jacks will win it for you giving you 20 outs AND two K's could be good AND you may already be ahead*. So I definetely raise the turn.

Definetely VB the river but I don't think I have ever called a mini-CR on the river here and had the best hand, so you should probably fold it although it is of course hard to do... which is why they miniCR you.



* He could have AKJ2 with clubs for example.

Hmmmm... if you're behind on the river, you definitely don't have all of those outs--which isn't to say you shouldn't raise it.

I'm not sure about the river laydown, though, in a HU pot. QQ and nut clubs beat you, clubs are runner-runner. I'm really more worried about QQ, but I think I have to call it anyway.

I like the play all the way, I think. I could go either way on raising the turn - I really don't see you being far behind here, and his bet looks a little weak - I think the pot's big enough to take a shot at, knowing you're likely close to 50/50 anyhow if it resolves into an all-in vs straight situation. There's some value to appearing to be very aggressive in this game too. But, basically, I like your play a lot.

I find it hard to believe that he hasn't backdoored something nasty on the river the way he's played, but I can kindof see how he might have backed himself into a bluff. It's a strange river and a very strange bet. I probably call this down and then curse my luck to run into some wierd two pair that became a boat. To be honest, I'm not convinced about the VB on the river - he really doesn't have a lot that'll call that, unless you've seen him make some hero calls in the past. He may misinterpret a smal-ish value bet as a weak bluff and raise you off it, which would be a disaster here.

Anyhow, I'm making a bold guess at 3QJK or perhaps 88xx with a residue of a draw in there somewhere.

I called him down and he had T3K9 or something, no flush draws.

I think raising the turn is good because of the times that he does show up with a hand like what he had, and it's pretty difficult to imagine me being very far behind.

The thing I thought of at the time was that he probably isn't calling a turn raise with anything that I'm ahead of - at least not often - but that is more of a holdem concept I think as he could easily have something like 2pr + gutshot + flushdraw and talk himself into calling, or he could possibly fold bottom set, etc.
