I'm thinking about having a go at a small €10 PLO tournament over here in Vienna and just would appreciate a little advice.

I play mainly Hold'em, ring games and tournaments, with the odd bit of PLO every now and then. But how does tournament PLO differ to ring PLO?

I've re-read all of Monk's articles on PLO again, but would just like to know if there any good tips on tournament play.

Rebuy tourneys are good for PLO - because of it's nature, you sometimes have to get in with slim favourite hands (50-60%) which you might fold in a holdem game, simply because it's hard to find a real dominating hand. So you'll improve your chances by playing if it's a rebuy.

Other than that, as it's E10 buyin, chances are it'll be very loose - don't be afraid to push in hard when you make a big hand on the flop as you're liable to be paid off. Try to take cheap, multiway flops when they're on offer, rather than putting large chunks of your stack in early before seeing a flop, and don't make aggressive raises and bets early on with drawing hands except against better/tighter players as you're too likely to get called down; take cheap cards when you can and push hard when you have the nuts.

In other words, same as most tourneys, play tight early on and open up in the later rounds! And, if it's not a rebuy, take some money to play the sidegames.

If it IS a rebuy, be prepared to get all in on flops with strong draws if it's multiway and your draws are to the nuts (there's liable to be dead money in there somewhere) and be prepared to call a little more early on preflop.
