Umm ... here's a hand that came up earlier today ... you guys might (and probably rightfully ) tear me apart for my play here ... but I did have my reasons. WARNING TO NOOBS: EXTREME DANGER: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. Like I say ... this is very far removed from anything I would normally do ... but I used my time bank, thought it through, sucked my balls into my chest and just made the play. You had to be at the table. Villain just about had a coronary. At least some unpleasant things to say in the chat.

Villain's stats were 80/13/3.5 ... bets most flops when he has any part of it whatsoever. Especially in this case with a great pot preflop, I figured my odds of running into a set were about 33%. (the rest of his range in my view included the draw which he did have ... and possibly AAxx.) I decided that even in a worst case scenario I still had a plausible if unlikely way of coming out ahead. (ie. hit my straight or possibly even runner-runner.) That made my final decision for me ... but it sure felt weird calling almost a full buyin with gutty+top pair+runner-runner flush draw.

In retrospect the call was bad ... I should have pushed. In my head, I had decided that my odds of taking the pot down heads up was something around 40%. I didn't mind another caller that much either ... as I still think there would still be enough equity for me. Either way I figured I came out ahead often enough to make it +EV. Scary play though. I don't think I could make the call against a tighter player.

lol, yeah, against a tight player, I think that call would lead to some downswings...
