Yeah, this really wasn't an attempt to disguise my hand as much as a pot-builder on a strong hand with plenty of stack-depth and position. Like, if the whole table limps with you on the button, the max raise is already to $18, and my re-raise only makes it $24.

What I wasn't really trying to do was show that I can re-raise something other than AA. The way the table was playing, I figured I'd probably get a few callers here if the other guy hadn't made it $84. But I did think deception would be very much on my side if I could hit the flop.

Anyhow, I want to play this hand for more than $4 if I can. My thinking was that I would've raised it max to a bunch of limpers, so why not use the leverage to make it a little more. I'm not crazy about playing it for more than 1/3 of stack, but I think playing it for 10% or so of stack isn't really a problem.

The problem I have with that re-raise play for giving your hand deception is that people when you re-raise think you've got AA; in this spot, that's not necessarily a good thing because folk will be looking to hit two pair and better to beat you; if you flop bottom two it's not necessarily going to help you that much from a deception point of view - unless you're up against tricky players who like to semi-bluff vs a likely AA, you'll only get action from hands better than yours anyhow. The only situation I think it helps in is if you flop a straight and find an opponent firing back at you with his whole stack with two pair, a flush draw plus one pair etc etc, or if you're against a deep opponent who you can bluff off by repping top set when an ace flops.... And I'm just not convinced those sort of spots happen often enough that the raise is worth it.
