This is a major area of concern for me, or at least it used to be.
Now that I live only 1.5 miles from the casino, I am free to quit, go home, come back.
FOLKS, DO NOT EVER FEEL THAT YOU HAVE TO PLAY ALL IN ONE SESSION
Now, if you are driving a LONG way to get to a casino, and you have a fatigue problem,
ATE would suggest the following
GET A ROOM! The facts here, are simple. If you drive a long way, you should NOT be playing 3-6! this is not worth it, and you cannot really afford a room, or can you?
Playing like SHIFT when tired, even in a three six game, will cost you a hellofa lot more, than 45 or 55 bucks for the room.
Try to go with a friend, so the room cost can be shared.
Or, be playing 6-12 or higher. at this limit, the ability to go, refresh and relax and come back, IS WELL, WELL WORTH 50 bucks, or so
I mean it!!!
Especially, if you incorporate the FAMOUS ATE check in method
Most hotels, will allow you to check in, around 7 am, some even sooner. Whenever the computer turns over, it's now considered the next day.
I have actually gotten in, as early as 5 am, with NEXT DAY checkout.
So, do it like this. Plan on arriving at the casion, around 2 or 3 am. play until check in time, then sleep, get up play till tired, go back and rest, play relax, play
This way, you get the room, for aroulnd 29 hours, for the same price.
Poker is serious business, and being well-rested, is a NECESSITY.
Most casinos, offer a subsidized deal, with a local hotel, check with your floorperson or conseriege.
Also, try to play at places, with the fastes dealers, and shuffleing machines, the game gets less boring.
BUT DO NOT, EVER, EVER CONTINUE TO PLAY, WHEN TIRED.
there is always another game, and another game.
In the past, you may have had to stay, because good games were not always available.
But not anymore.
check out the clubs, in los angeles (if possible)
All of them, have reasonable hotels, usually accross the street.
ATE is not joking around, about this.
if tired, QUIT
and DON"T drive more than 15 minutes, if only playing 3-6, unless you are getting a room, and sharing the cost of said room with someone else
otherwise, it's not worth it
