One quick thing you should remember - it is never a terrible mistake to raise preflop in PLO. If you have what you believe is a premium hand, and you're not sure what to do with it, err on the side of aggression would be my reckoning. The only caveat to that would be on a tiny stack table (like the joke party 50BB buyins) where NO-ONE will fold preflop to a single raise, you want to keep the implied odds as high as possible to outplay people postflop, i.e. not raise at all. If there's any number of players who will fold to a raise, or if your raise has a significant chance to remove the blinds or buy the button, you should always raise strong hands. If your question is "what is a strong hand?" then holey moley that's a long answer  he he.

If it is a table populated by people who will go all in with a variety of hands, you should re-raise strong AA suited-type hands (NOT dry aces) if you can get about 2/3s of your stack (or an opponents stack, whichever is smaller) into the pot preflop, as a little groundrule. I am fine to do this with COLLOSAL double-suited wrap hands too, if there will be additional action or if there's dead money in the pot.

What is your take on this hand adam? I have thought about it a bit and I think I could go either way on briacheks re-raise, depending on how his opponents play really....

OK, the MASTER will now respond

HEY! I'm p**** off that you made me look at another section. But, I've gotten over it.

Anyway, let's start with a rehash of what I've said earlier. Unless you can raise a huge amount AND THE PLAYERS HAVE SHOWN THAT THEY ARE NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO CALL SAID RAISE, you do NOT make giant raises, with ANY AA hand!

Does everyone have that?

The object in this game, is to get someone's WHOLE stack, not just some token initial bring in bets. AND to get said stack, in a situation where you are a big favorite, or even have everyone drawing dead.

You want to make a set, and have someone with aces up call. OR something like this

A 10 10, and two people have tens, and one is stupid enought to go with a flush draw.

PRESTO! You just got three stacks.

Now, in the example you've given, you would have lost anyway, as the eventual winner had a wrap straight draw, and you would have bet your overpair/nut flush draw.

BUT, you would have been putting in your money, with the best of it. Against several random hands, your AA24 with extra heart is NOT a favorite.

In fact, since you MUST play three cards from the board, you do not actually even have any hand WHATSOEVER before the flop.

Omaha high, is a game of the flop and Beyond.

Hold em is a game of before the flop

Stud is a game of live cards, and proper board analysis

Online draw, is a game of pairs

Omaha high low, is a game of before the flop+flop

No limit hold em, is a game of the "double I's"

(no, I'm not telling what that is, until book)

Ok, are we clear on that?

And, what MONK has said is of course true. I still consider the game playable, because the players are so hopeless.

But, I really like pokerstars. Just picked up 300 in the 1-2 NLOM8 game!

So, next time, just call the two bucks, and hope for some monster flop. PLO is NOT a game of "protecting" a hand . . . . . . PREFLOP. You do not have anything, therefor you have nothing to protect.

Massive reraises, WHEN IT'S CLEAR THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO FOLD (as they DON'T on party)

Is like buying a carseat to protect your child, when you haven't even impregnated a woman yet. YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING YET.

Have I said that enough times?

This of course, does not mean that you do not raise, with a varitey of hands. Only raising with AA hands, DOES give your hand away, as pointed out by the Monkster.

Any good, well coordinated hand, should be raised . . . . SOME

You do not want the pot to be unattractively SMALL, when you do flop a monster.

In the $25 game on party, ATE would suggest raising between .50 and 1.50 more, depending on the type of hand, while altering sometimes to avoid anyone picking up a pattern (like any of those . . . . . .CUSTOMER players, could ever do such a thing)
But it's a good idea to avoid getting into the habbit of having patterns

Is anyone aware of the sheer GENIUS of this answer.

sorry for making you look in another section but thought the link would just be easier.

Thanks for the advice and I am taking it to heart because I am eager to learn how to properly play because it seems to be a goldmine. Already in the short term I am a winner at this game thanks to you guys. I just have to take my lumps as I make stupid mistakes.
