Dear Adam,
can you give some basic principles for playing PLO tournaments? To me it seems to be that there is a tension between the nature of PLO and the basics of tournament play: PLO is a drawing game where no hand is a huge favorite over another before the flop. Many times on the flop you will have a strong draw or are up against a strong draw. But in tournaments, draws are death once the blinds become meaningful. Also, in a NL holdem tournament, once you get seriously short stacked, you move in before the flop once you have a hand that is likely to dominate other hands. But in PLO there are no really dominating hands... So how do you avoid in a PLO tournament that your fate is decided by the outcome of a lot of draws?
Any help appreciated,
Pieter
