Datamining is useful once you have stats on nearly every player at a limit. This usually takes several hundred thousand hands datamined, but you can get to the point where you have at least several hundred hands on 95% of the players at a limit. This allows you to open up a table, see how each player plays, then decide if you want to sit at that table. It also allows you to have reads on each player before you even see them play.
