Something pretty unusual at least for me lately happened on the limit tables this morning, I played extremely well AND I ran well. It has been such a long time since those two things came together that I forgot how it felt. On other news I visited an old poker acquaintance, perhaps some of you know him through his screen name at stars (twin-caracas), last night at the poker room that he started here in Caracas. I have to say he has really set up a nice place. Very nice room/area with a bar and small restaurant downstairs with a VIP room for the bigger limit game (ca. 25-50.00 limit) and 5 tables upstairs (5/5 PL game and some smaller limit games). Free beverages/food carried to you by some lovely young ladies and just a well ran room from my first experience as I would expect from a poker player who knows how a card room should be set up. Last night they had a monthly tournament which I couldn't stay around for but were running satellites for during my couple of hours there. Very good structure for the tourny with blinds set up like WSOP main event with 50 minute levels and 10K chips so alot of play (Buy-in about 550.00 US). For a very poor city in general there was alot of money flowing through the place which bodes well for the continued existence of the room as well as for the potential place that I am contemplating on setting up in a different area on the western side of Caracas. He has certainly set the standard very high and is something to aim for if/when I decide to open up a room.

Piss poor way to start the day but managed to make a fairly nice comeback while finishing up the PokerDandy bonus. Had to leave early for the land where I am building my house this morning. Picking up more materials and what not. Didn't get back until fairly late and was kind of tired to just have been motivated enough to do anything beyond deposit for the Empire bonus and play just a few hands.

On the card room front we have been able to find a place to get full size Texas holdem tables for the equivalent of 800.00 US or so. Also going to be able to pick up some nice chairs with adjustable height controls for roughly 40.00 a piece which is a bargain. Looked online trying to find some chips but with shipping wasn't able to come up with any satisfactory deals to get them down here although one site offered old Landmark Casino Chips for 0.17 a piece so with shipping to a destination in the US I can get 4000 chips for about 720.00 which is pretty nice although I will have to make a trip to the US to pick them up.

A decent start to the day. Working off the Empire bonus. If some of you still have hands to clear there and don't have a problem with SH then there are a shitload of idiots around the table. That said I was up about 30 then down about 40 in the span of 10 minutes I think when some of those folks decided to call three cold with things like 64o against my aces and crack me on the river with 2 pair but I mounted a pretty nice comeback before breaking down for a few minutes.

In other news the third person that I have tried to coach to play poker has gone the way of the first two. After some small transfers of 5.00 three times to play the minigames of which he lost all three times he decided to go big time so I transferred over 1800 and helped him get set up at various sites to take advantage of some bonuses. I tried to tell him to only play the 10 NL game until he made a few hundred to give himself some more time to gain experience and we could talk about hands etc. Well one night later and he has gone bust for all 1800.00 and I am pretty sure it is safe to say he didn't lose it all at the 10.00 NL tables. It is kind of disheartening that lessons go unheeded but so it goes I suppose. Poker is a damn rough game and very few manage to survive so I am not really surprised that it turned out this way I just didn't suspect it to be done in 1 day.

Just got to participate in one of my favorite pasttimes, dropping 45 Big Bets in an hour against a bunch of monkeys. Set over set, over pairs versus sets and so forth along with the stupid shit thrown in as well.
