this is just high right? hero checks the flop and only calls if he has odds to chase the flush. As played, hero folds.

I told this to MVP and I think its a good rule, don't raise on a board when a made straight possible unless you are willing to get it all in. Another side rule with that would be don't bet out oop with a draw on a paired or straight board because you are too likely to get raised off your hand.
