On line $20 MTT and less you pounce after the flop. +$20 MTT you can do one of 2 things.

Call which I don't like. Why? Because you have no idea where you are at. If he is on a draw and you check the turn planning the check raise you just gave him a free card. If you bet enough on the turn to take the odds out of chasing then all you won just was what you have called.

I like the min raise making it $400. If you just get called you have a better idea where you are at. Now you have to bet the turn and take it down right there. Lets say he re-raises the min. Now you have to think you have him beat and that he is on TPTK. You push his min raise. Now lets say he pushes your min raise after the flop. You have to put him on a set and let it go.

Whoa, with top two, you're figuring you ran into a set(under the circumstance you outlined)? Of what? The last two Ks or Js? Or the 3s? The 3s could make sense given the lack of serious preflop action, and the Ks or Js if your opponent was a pathological trapper(he came in small on the button in a potential 4way pot with big pocks).. but don't the pot odds and your general short-stackedness (not to mention your four outs if it's 333, and two if JJJ) more or less negate the chances you're outflopped?

I don't play a lot of big MTT yet.. so I'm just asking.. definitely not telling. I will say, with button+Ks and a limper I'm raising a lil harder than that, with Js a lot harder, and with 3s I'm probably limping. So I don't -expect- to see those from the button. On the other hand, everybody plays em different.
