As a new member of this site, I would like to add my 2 cents worth of advice to newer poker players who may have found their way here.
With less than one years experience with Hold'em, and being a pupil of the huge school of fish that the increased television coverage of poker has brought to the games, I thought I could bring a little newbie knowledge here.
For multi-table tournament experience, nothing will help you see more hands (and the bad decisions made by other players) than the free rolls at PokerStars.
TruePoker has 100 player Play Money tournaments every hour, also a good learning experience.
Tropics Poker was easy money when it first started out, but the skill level of the players there is improving. I did finish 7th in a field of 304 this week, but final table finishes are harder to achieve as the player base increases. I have made real money there, currently have 18 bucks there.
PokerChamps is finally paying more than the top 3 in their freerolls, currently 20 places paid, so I now have $2.15 on that site as well.
The late night JetsetPoker "GoPoint" tourneys are easier to register for than the cash added tourneys, but are still good experience.
The advice from a professional "lunch money" player friend of mine:
I need to get more aggressive as the blinds increase, loosen up and attempt to steal more blinds.. to avoid being blinded away. I am working on this, but this is obviously a leak in my game.
TheBike.com is a sister site to the Bicycle cardroom in California, and a real money site called Pokertropolis, I have turned a free Sit'N'Go win into $50 by participating in a limit holdem tourney that my win gave me an entry into.
I hope this helps someone, and if you have any questions do not be afraid to ask.
I also have computer building experience, so I could answer any question about home PCs, too
