Well, I now have a dilemma in my quest. After a decent night last night I am up $766 (10.5 bb/100 over 3300 hands) at the $100 level since 3/14. I'm also up an extra $466 thanks to taking 5th in last night's Party $33 PLO8 multi (don't ask, I was 3rd going into the final table and got card deaded in a big way).

So now, do I move up to $200 full time, or just pick and choose for a bit?

For now I think I'll pick and choose, but I will lean towards the $200 tables when possible.

Mute, I do have more than that, but was (am?) trying to keep the PLO8 funds separate as part of our little quest thing that we have going to try and get to the $1000 game. Of course, since I am pretty much playing ring PLO8 90% of the time lately, I might as well just consider the whole thing instead. At this point I'd only get into a $50 game if it was ridiculously fishy.

I am going to get in the $200 when I can, but not full time yet. I still don't care to play more than 2 tables very much, so I'd like to get some more relatively smartly played hands in. I'll probably have to cut down on the drinking, but that might be good for me in the end.

fwiw, i also screwed up on my initial hour calculations.

at 10 ptbb/100 and 50 hands per hour, it should take the following amounts of time (on average):

100s - 40 hours
200s - 40 hours
400s - 60 hours


so a total of 140 hours rather than 70. that seems to make more sense to me. i can be such a 'tard sometimes.

This was the kind of session that really tries my patience. My high hands ran into low boards, my low hands into high boards, etc. etc. When I did get a good hand (other than The Kuso), I didn't get paid off. Money was flying around the tables, and all I could do was watch. What really made it frustrating was that I wasn't even getting any good drawing hands in situations that I could drive the betting. Part of the problem was the weird combination of aggressive calling stations at the table (lots of bets/steals on marginal hands, but don't fold if you come over the top). These tables are GREAT when you're hitting hands (even marginal ones), but you've got to hit hands.

I also got suckouts like the plain vanilla turned nut flush running into a rivered boat, a bare low chaser hitting on the river to chop a big pot, etc. Nothing too unusual, but it tries the patience.

Anyway, I'm very happy with how I handled the adverse conditions. After looking over the hands, I only think I misplayed one hand (trips with low outs that whiffed), and it wasn't really that big of an EV mistake. I could have lost A LOT of money on a few hands, but I didn't. I feel like I've passed a test, and I'm patiently waiting for the heater as my reward.
