For a long time I have struggled with suited connectors, finding I am spewing chips with the low ones. Here is a hand that shows how they can have some good implied odds, to say the least.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $10 BB (9 handed)
saw flop|saw showdown
CO ($1125)
Button ($947.05)
SB ($1079)
BB ($1000)
UTG ($990)
UTG+1 ($432.75)
Hero ($1343.50)
MP2 ($820.75)
MP3 ($231.75)
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with , .
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $10, Hero calls $10, 1 fold, MP3 calls $10, CO raises to $60, 3 folds, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls $50, MP3 calls $50.
CO is tight as a drum (9% VPIP, 2% PFR). I immediately put him on QQ-AA, likely KK or AA. I am out of position, but I like my pot odds and implied odds here. If MP3 calls behind, I am calling 50 to win 205, which is great stuff. I throw this away unless I hit the flop extremely hard.
Flop: ($205) , , (3 players)
Hero checks, MP3 bets $171.75 (All-In), CO calls $171.75, Hero raises to $430, CO calls $258.25.
I'm loving it; my hand hurts from hitting the flop so hard. I check raise enough to all but pot commit KK and AA. Anyone fold AA/KK to this raise?
Turn: ($1236.75) (3 players, 1 all-in)
Hero bets $853.5 (All-In), CO calls $635 (All-In).
How about now? I'd like to think I fold here if I'm CO.
River: ($2725.25) (3 players, 3 all-in)
I love the overkill quads on the river...lol.
Final Pot: $2725.25
Main Pot: $720.25, between CO, Hero and MP3. > Pot won by Hero ($720.25).
Pot 2: $1786.50, between CO and Hero. > Pot won by Hero ($1786.50).
Pot 3: $218.50, returned to Hero.
Results in white below:
Hero has 7c 8c (four of a kind, eights).
MP3 has 6s 7s (full house, eights full of sixes).
CO has As Ad (full house, eights full of aces).
Outcome: Hero wins $2725.25.
