MVP the side pot was just the extra that Xaston had more than the other dude...

i was doing equity calculations not EV calculations. at the point just after xas pushes, he wants villain to call as he's WAY ahead in pot equity.

whether xas should push or not is a different calcuation... something like what Roy did. that being said, i'm not really sure where roy got his numbers from. those aren't the ones that i would use for EV calculations. i'm also not sure why you subtacted the two figures. finally, you would need to assign some probabilities to the fold/call decision and then ADD the results.

anyway, it'd be nice if xas could tell us how he arrived at $8, because if i could see his hand fundamental theorem of poker style, i'd want him to call the all-in bet.

What numbers would you use for EV calculations? The numbers I used are in proportion to Sleepy's stack since Xas has him covered. If he folds, Sleepy has put in $245 and Xas wins that amount 100% of the time. (actually that number itself is a little off, it should be $257 as broomcorns put in $12 too). If he calls, the $585 i used is the starting stack of Sleepy as that's the maximum Xas can win from the hand. (again that number should actually be $597.. my mistake)

Using my method the new numbers should give these results..

Sleepy folds, Xas wins $257

Sleepy calls and loses, Xas wins $597 72.9% of the time = $435.21
Sleepy calls and wins, Xas loses $597 27.1% of the time = $161.78
Sleepy calls = $435.21 - $161.78 = $273.43

EV difference between folding and calling: $273.43 - $257 = $16.43

I don't need to assign probabilities to the fold/call decision as i'm not calculating the EV of Xas's push, i'm calculating the EV of Sleepy's call. About subtracting the two figures, that's a bit confusing and it's my fault, the reason is that the line

Sleepy calls and wins, Xas loses $597 27.1% of the time = $161.78

Should really have the answer of -$161.78 (because that's the amount Xas would LOSE, not win), and since it's a negative, i simply subtracted it (adding a negative is subtracting)..
