I'm about half-way through The Theory Of Poker for the second time...I hope to finish it by the end of the weekend. Great book, but my head spins when reading some sections...I'll come back to it, of course, but, right now, I'm looking forward to reading another book. More on ToP in later journal entries. Next book on my April-June read-a thon: Winning Low Limit Hold-'em by Lee Jones. I'm excited about this one because my man, KennyG, said that this was a gateway book for him.

Anyway, here's a hand...Would you guys have folded where I did...Assuming no reads?

Paradise Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.05/$0.10
8 players

Stack sizes:
HitmanXL: $9.10
UTG+1: $2.70
MP1: $6.90
MP2: $5.60
CO: $10.60
Button: $3.50
SB: $18.25
BB: $9.42

Pre-flop: (8 players) HitmanXL is UTG with [Qc] [Ah]
HitmanXL calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises to $0.3, 2 folds, Button calls, 2 folds, HitmanXL calls, UTG+1 calls.

Flop: [Ad] [3s] [Ks] ($1.35, 4 players)
HitmanXL bets $0.5, 2 folds, Button raises all-in $3.2, HitmanXL folds.
Uncalled bets: $2.7 returned to Button.

Results:
Final pot: $-1.35

No, i would have folded before the flop. Don't call raises with AQ OOP.

Nice journal BTW.

Fold AQ soooooooted or not UTG or anywhere in EP... Playin em in MP or LP is tricky enough... Playing them in EP is suicide... And DEFINITELY don't call a raise w/ it... Basically for the reason of what happened... If an A flops, are you ahead??? What about a Q??? Just muck it... If you wanna take a stab at the pot, then pot it... Bet closer to $1.25 on that flop... But, either way, it shouldn't get that far...

Okay...It's time to get my sh*t back together with this journal. I was browsing the journal of the artist formerly known as Godlike the other day, and it appears that he has catapulted his game (and his bankroll!). Congratulations on your rockin' summer so far, Roy! Anyway, I've gotta raise my game, so I can roll with Roy and, say it with me, KennyG.

So, here's some numbers from Paradise (from 4/4/06 on):

Level # Hands VPIP Fold SB Fold BB Att. Steal Won $ WSF $ Won
NL .25 4158 16.59 85.71 89.47 6.47 25.18 96.36
NL .10 8774 15.80 90.00 85.00 2.67 27.40 228.45

BB/100 Went to SD Won SD PF Raise Rake
NL .25 4.63 20.26 53.18 4.38 81.55
NL .10 13.02 17.64 57.83 3.91 61.75

I've just typed these stats in from my Poker Tracker program because I couldn't get my computer to give me a screenshot of my stats page...I've tried the method that Roy recommended earlier, but I couldn't get it to work. Can anyone give your humble chimp an alternative method of posting Poker Tracker screenshots in journals?

Anyway, how do these numbers look for an aspiring miser (or mizor, as the case may be)?

The other news is that I've opened a Neteller account and have begun the bonus hunt. Do you guys recommend I follow the site listing in the Bonus Whores 101 article? That's what I've begun to do...William Hill (unlocked $45 monthly bonus, but lost $ overall...I had to play at the $100 table, and I don't know if I'm ready yet); Golden Riviera (unlocked $50 sign-up bonus and won $ at $50 tables); 727 Poker (began playing for $25 sign-up bonus, but I don't know if I will complete the rake requirement...I've gotten hammered at their 6-max tables, and the points don't seem to accrue fast enough to be worth it at the level I'm playing at, but we'll see); The Gaming Club (began playing for their "deposit $20 and get $300" sign-up bonus).

Does anyone know how The Gaming Club bonus works? I read on Bonus Whores that points are accrued based on hands dealt at certain levels, but the site just seems to be keeping track of raked hands...I don't see anything about points on the site. Fill a brother in if you know.

So, there's a little somethin' somethin' from The HitmanXL...I hope I can get back in to the BTP fold.

Hitman:

Whoring is where its at man. For the most part, yeah, just follow the BW101. TGC tracks on the promotion tracker on the my account page. It does not use the "raked hands" count on the lobby page. 727 is on the B2B network, and it is a loveit or iabsofukkinlutelyhateit type of network. If you don't like it, get out and don't go back. As for whoring the primas, the softest game I have found there is the PL100 jackpot game. If you know how to play pot limit, this is the place to go. At Wm. Hill, my advice to you is to play 1/2 7CS. That is how alot of people 'round here clear that bonus.

And start in on the casino bonuses in Derk's post in BR Management forum.

Was kinda wondering what happend to you. . . . . dude has the most popular journal in the forum, then disappears. You are a strange one my friend. Mancrush on KG, budding mancrush on Roy, damn I am glad I suck at poker.

Miser - someone who does not like to spend money, penny pincher, etc. Wouldent even play poker.

Mizor, someone who will 3 bet 94o utg, just becase its sweet (in a drunken MK sort of way, not in a preteen aingsty Xas sort of way). For the actual defnintion, read the first page of MecosKing's journal. IIRC it stems from MTG (a game about which I know nothing, I was drinking beer and working my way through coeds when it was big) and refers to getting oneself so deep into a situation that you "might as well" or mize on at that point. One who mizes is a mizor. But again, check out MK's journal for the exact definition.

And you are definately not a mizor playing 15/3
