Nut low in a multiway pot.

Postby Rhound50 » Thu Mar 03, 2005 4:28 pm

The live O8 game brought up a question that I have never really pondered before. The live game I played was the loosest O8 game I have ever seen, I have never seem 9 players to a flop on a consistant basis, even in the crappy $.5/$1 limit games online.

So here is my question, from playing online I never raise with a naked nut low, unless I'm playing PL and 'I'm heads up and trying to bluff for the whole pot. With 5 players calling a river bet and me with the nut low it seems that a raise is the right play. Even if i 1/4 I still make money, the only way I lose is if one person folds and I take 1/6.I'm willing to take my chances that there arent 4 nut lows out of 6. Does this seem to make sense to you guys??? Am I missing something?

Yep, makes good sense. Even in a 4-way pot it would be ok in a loose game where people play non-nut lows to raise after a bet and a couple of calls, especially if the low is unusual or rivered, A4 or something.
