3 hands from my session

Postby DODGYKEN » Sun Mar 06, 2005 2:25 am

There I was thinking I'd had a really good session and I ended up being about $15 up! I lost a couple of pots at the beginning of my session, and then won it back at the end. Obviously, as I won the big pots at the end, it seemed better than it was. Oh well.

Hand 1:
I'm in MP with $97 and get Kd Ah Kc 2s. I limp after 2 others and 8 see the flop unraised. Flop is Ks 5d 8d. Checked to me and I bet pot of $8. An LP calls and the CO calls $5.50 all-in. Turn is the 5h. I bet $14 into a $29 pot and LP calls. River is the Td. I bet $30 into a $57 pot. LP called and I won, but Interpoker doesn't show the losing hand (unless it was shown first).

Hand 2:
I'm in SB with $99 and get 5d Js As 9h. 5 limpers, I complete, and we see the flop 7 handed. Flop is 6s 3s 2s. I bet $7 and get an LP caller. Turn is the 3h and I bet half-pot of $10 and LP calls again. River is the 6c. I check, LP bets $10 into a $40 pot. This looks like a milking bet, but I called it and lost to quad 3's.

Hand 3:
I'm on BB with $133 and get 9d Jc 4h 4s. 4 limpers and we see the flop 6 handed. Flop is 4c 2h Ks. I bet pot of $6 and get an MP caller. Turn is the Jd. I bet $18 and MP calls. River is the 3s. I check, MP bets $40 all-in and I fold.

Comments on how I played these hands would be appreciated.

I like your play in all of them.
For hand 3, I have been experimenting making blocking bets in these spots to try to discourage raise-bluffs; I hate that in PLO usually, but against poor players and ones who you feel might be smart enough to confuse it with a milking bet (thus just call 2 pair, or raise only with the goods) it's not a bad play. Here $10 would be OK to squander I think, although one reason NOT to is that his play looks a lot like drawing to a straight (maybe top 2 or something?)... With only one draw out looks like he hit it and so checking is IMO marginally better.

Hand 2 you could check the turn but that's tantamount to giving up really; again I like a bet here more often than not, though I agree on the river bet but against the Crypto idiots you gotta call that.

Hand 1 generally I like your play. Those half-pot bets are good as milkers or feeling bets, by making them in both situations (hand 2 and 3) you disguise your intent pretty well and make it harder to read.
