Lemme set you up. $50 NLFR.

Villian (UTG) has wonderful stats. 62% VP$IP, 14%PFR and I personally saw him raise or bet (and not small amounts) 5 times on the river with bottom pair.

The table as a whole has been very aggressive and loose as well, but this guy stands on their shoulders as the leader. I'm playing pretty tight myself but I'm not sure that it's being noticed.

I have [Jd][Jc] in CO.

Villian leads out with minimimum raise of $1. Hand range: Two cards with numbers or letters on them. UTG+2 calls. Folded to me. I thought about a big raise here, but as loose as this table had been I was a bit worried I'd get called by all limpers plus some left to act. JJ is a hand I'm not crazy about, so I call and hope to hit a set and really clean up. I thought it was worth the risk. Also I didn't want to take the play out of the villian's hand. It's almost automatic that he'll make a substantial CB after raising preflop. It's folded to BB who calls. 4 see the flop.

Flop: [2d][2c][2h] Pot is $4.25

Other than a jack this is just about the best I could've hoped for. With a QQ or better there's no question these people would've raised PF. BB checks. As I assumed the villian leads out overbetting the pot at $5. UTG+2 folds. I'm ready to make my move because I'm vulnerable to overcards and I'd rather face the villian heads up if possible. I reraise to $10. BB folds. Villain calls. Yes!

Turn is a beautiful [7c].

Villian checks and I believe my best bet is to push him in here. He has $18 and change so I bet $20. Villian insta-calls.

River: [2s]

Villian shows [Kc][Tc] and wins with 2222K to my 2222J.

He actually called me because he hit a flush draw on the turn and he thought by some unknown process I don't understand that if he hit his club on the river he'd win. Obviously he'd never considered I might have PP. He still had his king as an out, but I don't mind making an all-in move against 4 outs as a rule.

The only good thing about all this is that he didn't have enough money for me to lose more than $30 on this hand.

I haven't played there very long, but even with this loss I'm still a winning player at Party. I just think it's probably the same no matter what site you play at. I played at UB for a couple years and certain people were always bashing the way UB was "screwing them over". Certain people just want to try to look everywhere else for the reason they are getting beat rather than the probable source: themselves. I'm not sure some of them can tell the difference (or want to see the difference) between a true bad beat and a bad play where they allowed someone in cheaply to draw out on them (and thus, getting "screwed over" by the site they are playing at because it gave their opponent one of 3 outs he needed).

I was just surprised at how many got involved in the Party bashing after that hand. I finally decided that it was probably because most of the table was very loose and aggressive and probably suffer these "bad beats" quite often...and conveniently forget all the times that Party "gave" them just the card they needed to win on the river.
