mute said in another post that he usually bets & raises with an uncounterfeitable nut low that does not include A2 in his hand (or at least he said something similar to this). at first i was suprised because i though that was asking to be 3/4rd. eg 2346 vs 238Q on A58 board. but then i realized that even in this case you will make a straight pretty often to take 3/4 (or more if the straight involves a 2 or 3) and in many cases you have the low locked up with a freeroll at the high. and of course betting hard may cause a weak high to fold so you don't always have to get there. then I read this article - http://www.playwinningpoker.com/omaha/pot-limit/plo8/. where the author argues, pretty convincingly IMO, that PLO8 is essentially a game of freerolling. 3/4ering also, but to a lessor degree & against less aware opponents.
in light of this i was trying to figure out how to play big pairs, even big double pairs like KKQQ. It seems to me that IF your opponents know what they doing it's very, very unlikely that you will make money even though you hit a set 25% of the time. Aren't you just too likely to be getting freerolled by low hands with flush or straight draws? I mean you could get a freeroll flop here with a straight & redraw to full, but that's got to be very rare.
