Xaston is of course correct that the ME is the most +ev of any of the WSOP events for a good player because there are some many donkey who have nothing to lose . They arent good poker players but hell they got in on a $50 satalite so WTF. The problem is that for a true expected value calculation you need to be able to run infinite trials to get a true long term ev. The main event is played once a year and who knows how long the ME will be the way it is currently. Playing 10 ME at the current conditions the standard devation is going to be so large that the expected value calculation is almost meaningless.

Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy won a bracelet in 7-stud without ever playing it and Jen Harman in 2-7 Single Draw. Understanding poker and tournament theory does go a long way to make up for inexperience in a game. Knowing what to do with kings up on 5th street when blah blah blah blah would certainly be nice to know however. Of course in Stud and Stud/8 I would play very close to the vest and take a lot more liberties in my stronger games.
