I need beginner's strategy!

...starting hands, best places to play, "if you dont hit XXX on the flop, fold" kind of strategy, just the necessary to start beating PLO8 and PLO at the low PL stakes....

A LOT of good information in that thread for when you're getting started to LO8, I read that and was pretty much able to beat any lo8 game I sat in.. This forum rawks

My 10 minute not excessively well thought out newbie PLO8 guide.
Pre-flop
- This is similar to the advice Monk gives in his article
- Don’t ever raise. Personally I think you lose a little bit of value by doing this, but it makes the flop decisions easier.
- Limp with Any A2, Any A34, Any 234, Any A3 suited, Any 4 cards > 10, Any AA + a card < 5
- Only call a raise with A2 suited, A23
- Only re-raise with AA + a card < 5
Post-Flop
- Only play the nuts or draws to the nuts
- A set is only a draw to a full house
- Don’t raise with a naked nut low
- Don’t raise with a naked nut str8
- Don’t draw to the nut low unless you have some part of the high (a gut shot is enough).
- Play 2 pair / middle set slowly
- Bet big draws in LP, to try and win the pot or earn a free card.
- Don’t bluff
- Get PTO
- Don't overvalue a naked AA (it really isn't worth much)
- Be prepared to fold A LOT of flops. Don’t sweat folding A234 double suited when the flop misses you. This is the nature of PLO / PLO8.
- Be careful in the blinds. If the play the hands outlined above it is hard to get in trouble post flop because your hands only make the nuts. This isn’t true in the blinds.
- Only play the nuts or draws to the nuts (I know I have repeated this but it is REALLY important)
If anyone is intrested in more detail then this I (or someone more qualified, ahem Monk) can write up a more detailed list of newbie pitfalls and post flop advice.
