What are people's thoughts on this. I've come to the realization that pushing wiith hands like A9 when you're shortstacked is a big problem because you often run into bigger aces, but when pushing with smaller suited connecting cards they are usually live unless they are called by an overpair.

In a tourny today at a casion I tried this. I was down to $1300 in chips, blinds were 400/800 and I was UTG+1 and pushed with 46s. I was called by AT and ended up hitting my straight.

its true that you will likely have live cards, but you also know you have to hit your hand to win. The benefit of pushing with an ace is that you can win without hitting anything. When your desperate, I don't have a problem with pushing with them because you probably won't find a good situation so you might as well try to have live cards.

Hahaha, next hand I picked up 55, pushed again, turned a set, and tripled up to $7300. Then on the very next hand (blinds are 500/1000 now) EP player raises to $2000, I push with AhQc, he calls for another $5500 with KsQh, hits 4 spades and that's the end of the tourny for me. In a matter of 3 hands,I woulda been over $14k from $1300, but KQ ended up cracking my AQ...sigh.
