Granted, this is not a total bluff as he has 2nd nut flush, but in the chat afterward it seemed clear that he would have done it with rags because of my flat call on the turn.

I was able to capitalize on it later and called him down a couple of times with so so hands when I smelled the same kind of bluff coming, however:

In this one I deserved to get drawn out on, my turn check is weak, but I have a hard time getting aggressive with a hand like I had. I'm pretty sure that if I play more shorthanded higher stakes games I am going to have to learn that skill.

Same basic pattern tho - he will pounce if he smells weakness and more often than not will take the pot uncontested.

this kinda issue comes up in nlhe a lot. You bet a blank flop with KK, like Q72 rainbow, and you get one caller who is oop. turn is a blank, he checks, you check for pot control because he either has a set or a decent Q. River is blank and he bets pot, you are almost obligated to call it because you opened yourself up to be bet into by a bluff, a Q or a set. This way you get more money from a bluff, maybe a little less from a Q and save a lot of money vs a set.

Its harder for it to apply for omaha since its much easier to be outdrawn in omaha than holdem so giving the free turn card could be a big problem but maybe this helps figure out a good way to combat it.
