The way he is betting, he seems like he wants to protect his 2 pair or has a weak ace? Was my raise a good play, or should I have pushed all in since I am going to call his re-raise, ugh I dont know...He's a pretty solid player, showing down the best hand a few times

once he pushes all in he either has AA, 44 or the straight, unless he is a donk, in which case he could think he has 'trapped' you with AK or AQ.... either way he has double his starting stack already and shown down the best hand a few times, out of the BB two pair is possible but the straight seems more likely.

I don't really like small sets, but having played for the set you basically have to call.

Straight it was, ah well that was what I thought. I play for set, and I hit this set, I cant really fold.

Don't feel bad about it though, because a lot of the time at NL10 you will find the other person with AK-AT willing to go bust in an unraised pot.

I do like your re-raise to $4.10 but after that you might need to consider folding...

I just try to be ultra carefull of solid players who give me a lot of action on that kind of board. I would have gone broke there as well, but I would have been half expecting to see him turn over the straight.

Call. But read dependent. Yesterday I had 66 limped in EP with a J 6 4 board. I raised on the flop, he reraised, and I reraised that...this was 50 NL. When I reraised his reraise I put him on 44...which was exactly what he had. Because I couldn't conceive of any other possible hand for him given his play. So, if I can put him on 44, shouldn't he be able to put me on 66? At the end of the hand, I tell him, hey, sorry, rough situation. And he says "Yeah, but that's one where I'm supposed to go broke." But it's not. A good player lays down that 44. Because his read on me should have somewhere included "not going to get all in with AJ on a Jxx board."

Your situation is different. In my case, no way could I have had 2 pair from EP with a J 6 4 board. In your case, against the BB, he could have any two. Think he wouldn't get all in with A4? Can you even rule out him getting all in with AJ? I think not.

You made a good play. I'd make that play ten times out of ten.
