I havent played with these smaller blinds in a while, so I'm curious as to what you guys think of my play here.
My stack: $200
His stack: $138
My opponent is a decent player. Fairly new to the table but has won a couple of hands. His has played fairly tight and ABC.
Opponent limps in front of me from 5th seat. I raise to $5 with [Ah]. Folded to the BB who calls. My opponent calls as well.
FLOP: pot $16.50
[6c][Jd]
Checked to me I bet $12 into the $16.50 pot (Why didn't I bet $15 here like usual? odd.) BB folds. Limper opponent thinks a bit and check raises it to $24. uhoh. He could have a flush draw, AJ, KJ, A10, trips, KK, QJ. I have no idea.
I decide to make a reraise to $60 here. My thinking is if he calls this huge bet or reraises, then he must have trips/ top two pair or something else beating me. What do you guys think about this bet? This is the main point of the post.
Anyway, he calls without too much thought. I'm sure I must be dead and go into check/fold mode.
TURN: pot$136.50
[6c][Jd]
woohoo!!!! yay!!! finally luck goes my way!!! I think I started singing when this card came out. I was going to bet something like $60 here...but he only had $73 left so I just moved-all my chips in to try and look weak. I put him on trips and figured his fold to be nearly impossible.
River was of no consequence. He showed [6d] for trip 6's on the flop.
How was my play? Is there another play I can make here that can help me figure out what he has, while risking fewer chips? Any input appreiecated.
BTW, this hand seemed to turn my week around. Went up $450 in about 3 hours on RV...huge change of pace from Party/Empire. For the first time in 2 weeks I feel like I'm unstoppable again.
