So come on guys, why is the minimum raise after the flop such a huge crime?

Is it not a tactic that can be used when you have an underpair or a big draw to find out where you are?

So many people seem to think the min-raise = monster, so surely it is worth putting in the occasional min raise with say, TT on a flop of KQ X?

preflop is a different matter...

What purpose does minraising with TT on a KQx purpose serve? You may aswell have xx there as, without a read, you're basically spewing chips. Most players won't fold AK, or even AQ, or K2 for that matter there.

The main reasons we are against the minraise, in general, (and I say in general as there ARE certain times when it is an acceptable move - ie, you have a read that this particular player is afraid of minraise and will fold to them often, or that a player will call your minraise with almost any holding but usually fold to a bigger raise - then it is a raise for value (usually on the river though)). Anyway, the reasons we are against it is that

A) if you have a marginal hand and want a fold, most people will MUCH more likely fold to a bigger re-raise than a minraise.

B) If you have a good hand, then you are letting people draw out on you for cheap and are also not getting enough value out of people with 2nd best hands (less of a chance you're going to get their stack)

C) You project the strength of your hand for a very cheap price - raising gives other people information, you want to charge them as much as possible
